2.0 4x4 Octy

Hi all,

Two weeks into my two year old 4x4 and it's great! The first car I've had that's looked mildly interesting and actually delivered! Got 40mpg on a 20 mile urban run today which is great and if you go through the magic 4,000 rpm it just takes off!

I've noticed that there is a mild "whine" from the transmission almost like slight backlash from it at most speeds. Is this just a characteristic of the Haldex?

Curious.

I'm on my third, had a Scout this time.

They can develop a bit of slack in the rear transmission when taking up the power.

Last one had a rear diff failure, fixed under warranty, no quibbles. Happy to have another.

They are much noisier than the FWD ones.

Had my first one chipped to 200ish, the 4x4 is absolutely fantastic for this, never scrabbled for grip.

Happy vrooming

Thanks for the reply. Mine just gets better every time I drive it. I find that 1st and 2nd gears are a bit short but once into 3rd. it's a lot smoother progression.

Just love the grunt - it may not be a vRS but is does me. Miss the economy of my old diesel............but who cares
