Well should be around the price of a head gasket because thats all thats involved apart from getting the carbon of the top of the pistons and valves.

Re: 2.0 fsi decoke

I remember some place did a chemical decoke on an old car, but i think you will find that all the FSI type engines (eg Mitsu GDI etc) have had issues with needing decoking.

Re: 2.0 fsi decoke

Just been told by Skoda that it will be done under warrenty and the FSI engines have a problem with this due to the sulpher content in uk petrol, no matter what grade you use, been told to add a fuel cleaning liquid every 4000 miles

Re: 2.0 fsi decoke

Good - I would expect that to have been covered as there have been many similar reported issues in the US of FSi problems.

Re: 2.0 fsi decoke

Diesels will have problems if not 'exercised' regularly, the exhaust turbine side of the turbo will clog up with crud given enough time.

Drive one gently then thrash it and watch the amount to rubbish that's fired out of the exhaust

I give my TDI the odd tank of BP ultimate on a regular basis as well as a razz up the bypass to give it a good clear out.

Re: 2.0 fsi decoke

AFAIK the problem with the FSI is something to do with the tumble flaps in the intake side.

Re: 2.0 fsi decoke

Interesting issue.

When I had the Fabia vRS I got pee'd off at how manky the chrome exhaust got after having a CTR with shiny twin chrome that didn't need special attention to keep clean.

When I switched back to petrol I thought it would be nice not having to scrub my exhaust so hard again *ooer* but with my 2.0FSI sport and even more so with the TFSI it feels like I'm cleaning a diesel's exhaust again ffs

Still.... better to have that crap on the outside of the car than still in the engine I spose They joys of a decent route for my daily commute meaning it gets driven hard on an almost daily basis

Question for the boffs... do the added cleaning agents in shell optimax *cough* I mean V-power help reduce the likelihood of the engine coking up?
