Have used DtD and it was a good experience as they put us in contact with a dealer who supplied the car. It wasn't a skoda, but no problems.

Plenty of debate about it on here and you might well be able to speak to your local dealer and see how close they can get to that price for you.

Re: 2.0tdi ambiente

Haven't used DtD, but I would definitely use it as bargaining power at your local Skoda dealer on a brand new car. I took a Broadspeed.com quote to my Skoda dealer when I ordered my 1.6FSI Ambiente back in July (when the list price was £13,700) and I ended up getting it for £11,700 (they even agreed to hold it and register it as a 58 plate for collection on the 1st September, and held the price they offered me on my part-exchange for the period too).

Admittedly they took a bit of working on, but I think I ended up getting on their nerves sufficiently to get a £2,000 discount (despite the conversation beginning with "we're Skoda, we don't need to do discounts like some manufacturers"). Just push your luck, that's all I can say!

"we're Skoda, we don't need to do discounts like some manufacturers"

Possibly replies are:

"But why do you fit cars with heated rear windscreens then?"

"Maybe not but you need to learn customer service"

"Maybe not but you need to realise that I have the money you want"

"You're Skoda, so you don't need to have my business unlike some manufacturers"

"It's ok I can hold onto my money for a few months, but if you don't start being realistic you'll be out of a job when nobody buys and cars from you and the company can't pay your wages"

All of these assume you don't actually care if you never go back there again

Re: 2.0tdi ambiente

I took a DTD printout to my local dealer when I was looking to buy a vRS. I got them pretty close to the DTD price so I was happy. They muttered something unpleasant about DTD but only becuase I chewed at their profit margin thanks to them

Actually, I replied with something not unlike the above! I was in the showroom for about an hour and a half, and not one other customer set foot in there all the time I was in there - this being a Saturday too. So I pointed out to the dealer: "Yes, I can see you have customers queuing up". At which point he reluctantly admitted it hadn't been the best month.....

Re: 2.0tdi ambiente

I have ordered from DTD twice and have been happy twice. We have bought an Octavia (me) and a Golf (SWMBO). It is all very low hassle factor car buying, IF you know exactly what you want.

I'm a cheap skate (so I want a good deal) but I hate haggling, so this was an easy way round that issue. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again. Hopefully, a few years till I have to though! Never know, someone else may be on the block by then....
