About to join the Octy 2 club and MFD sat nav question!!

Thanks to a member on here (who will remain nameless until I get the car!!!) I will be joining the Octy 2 club. I will be the proud owner of a CRTDi 170 VRS Estate in race blue having traded my beloved Fabia VRS.

Obtaining a family dog and having a preggers missus (due in Nov) forced my hand to obtain a bigger car but I have to say after test driving one I can't wait. I've never had the same make of car twice in a row so I think this is testament to just how much I've loved the Fabia and how brand loyal I'm becoming!!!

One question. The car I'm buying (unseen ) is listed on the Skoda website as having Maxi dot when you input the chassis number. I have read with interest that with this function, the Skoda factory sat nav will replace the stereo and slot striaght in and that they do crop up for sale from time to time.

My question is I have seen MFD1, MFD2 and MFD3 banded about. What do the model names mean, what are the differences and can you just slot them straight in????

Cheers all

MOz

MFD1 is for Mk1 Octy etc, so no good to you mate.

MFD2 is a good bangs for bucks system, can be had for between £300 - £400 and it will slot straight in, you will also get the nav prompts in the maxidot.

MFD3 is the daddy, it's the unit that has superseded the MFD2, it will pretty much bolt straight in and they are £1k upwards depending on source.

Do a search on the forums and you will find a huge amount of info on the MFD2 / 3 systems.

As said - MFD3 is the daddy

I had a new VRS TDi on 28 March this year, and on 30th March the stream came out and the MFD3 went in.
Fantastic bit of kit, cannot fault it!

Does the MFD3 have built in blue tooth???, or can you slot your sim card in.
I have been looking at the pioneer versions but i would like a system that you can slot your sim card in so you can dispense with carrying or recharging your Mobile

had my vrs dsg for a couple of weeks now...had to pay extra for the maxidot..also thought the columbus system at £1500 was too much, so bought this instead..fantastic, and cheaper

Re: About to join the Octy 2 club and MFD sat nav question!!

you can download the speed camera info from garmin (or various other sites)..do a search on this site for maxidot..loads of info, and well worth the price..approx £100..not only does it give you lots of info, but looks cool too
