ABS & ATR Light coming on

Hi folks,

I hope someone can help me gain some idea's on this before I put it into the garage.

I have a Skoda Octavia II (54 plate) that has not given me any trouble till now.

Driving to work last week the ABS light came on followed by the little yellow car with skid marks, the ATR? OFF button was also lit up. I pulled over, switched everything off and back on and it seemed to reset itself until I got about half a mile down the road when it happened again.

At the weekend I took all the wheels off to check the wiring for the ABS sensors incase a plug was slack but they were OK.

Does this seem like a duff sensor as it seems to do it more when turning corners or do you think it could be something else.

Are ABS sensors expensive?

Thanks for taking the time to read this noobs question and I hope someone can assist me.

Thanks,

John

Re: ABS & ATR Light comming on

Maybe first test the sensors for high resistance using a multi meter to determine whether they are on their way out and then test the wiring next. My experience of this issue was down to a corroded winding in a front sensor which was easy to fix. I hope this gives you a starting point.

Re: ABS & ATR Light comming on

Just thought as well to check if there is any crud stuck to the sensor as they do attract magnetically plus the phonic pickup wheel for damage/crud build up.
