| AC Compressor dead @ 20 months - Rare? Some may rememebr that I bought a 20 month old vRS a few weeks ago. I posted about the AC - basically compared to my old Peugeot 307 the AC felt lukewarm all the time and I was extremely unimpressed. Eventually got back to the dealer yesterday, they had it on the ramp for a couple of hours (apparently there was a recall issue to fix as well) and at the end I was told the Compressor wasn't working and that would have to be replaced. Annoying I guess as apparently it's about a 4hr job to do, so I need to go back while they do it. Good thing is it's obviously under warranty as figures in the region of £800 - £900 fitted were mentioned should this have happened outside of warranty. So was this just a case of bad luck? Because I'd certainly not expect this kind of failure on a 20 month old (15k mile) vehicle. Just worried that "next time" this happens it wouldn't be under warranty! Oh and I know that when I mentioned the AC a couple of other people said the same - about it not performing as they expected either. Might be worth getting the same check done because according to the dealer the AC certainly should be icy cold when set at it's lowest. |

| Re: AC Compressor dead @ 20 months - Rare? My car is 3 years old and 60K and still totally original. I assume they checked the gas charge.

| Re: AC Compressor dead @ 20 months - Rare? I seem to remember it being mentioned that SEAT were having issues with the A/C compressor which I suspect it is the same part.

| Re: AC Compressor dead @ 20 months - Rare? Changing a few a week at the moment on the MK5 Golf/Touran/Golf Plus etc.# The system must be flushed afterwards and a new dryer fitted. |
