Aerowiper blades

I,ve searched to no avail so now I'll ask.

Are refill aerowiper blades interchangeable?

Mines an Octavia 2, so basically VW I expect Passat Golf etc etc etc will fit if the length is right but what about refill rubbers from Halfords. I don't want to get in a mess here by trying to save money but complete blades which they always try to sell are very expensive.

Re: Aerowiper blades

Can someone explain what these refill things are please?

BTW, there's some bumf on where to get the refills if you go through the next 2-3 pages as it was discussed there very recently, or search for 'aerofill' or 'refill'.

Do the search again. I've started a post about changing rubber blades only (not whole wiper) with part number and price.

Re: Aerowiper blades

Thanks GAFF and blackspaven. I've got there in the end.

Do you have to stick with VAG refills do you know or are the things from your local cut price spares joint compatible and OK (even if short lived)

Thanks

I've refilled rubbers on my previous octy. 5 euros for rubbers and 5 min work - it's easy and simple. But still U need to remember:
1) original blades will be better;
2) U can easily buy a rubber that woun't fit in the blade (mostly will fall out);
3) plastic endings of the blade will not last long if U change the rubber too often.

Re: Aerowiper blades

Be a bit careful - one of the VW ones I got had the right number on the package but didn't have the vertical bit of the blade. Oddly enough it fits and works fine but there is no rubber filling the upward extension of the end caps and running along the top of the blade!

one of mine didnt have the vertical bit of the rubber above the grooved section that the metal goes in - it fitted okay but like an ordinary refill rather than "aero" cross section. Number on the package label matched the forum info
