Alarm/lock beep

I have heard on here that the 'alarm beep' can be set via VAG-Com. I take it this will mean that there will be a beep as the doors are locked and unlocked?

If so, how loud is it? Is it a 'chirp' or a honk of the horn?

I dont want it turned on if it is a loud honk, but might like it if it is a typical alarmy on/off chirp

Re: Alarm/lock beep

It's a non intrusive 'chirp' and you can configure it to do it on either lock, unlock or both

Re: Alarm/lock beep

Mine will only 'chirp' on locking. It was set using maxi-dot. Can it be made to 'double chirp' on unlocking using VAG Com?
TBH the locking chirp is very feeble and I can never hear it in a busy street - far better to look at the flashers for visual confirmation.

Yes, I've done mine with VagCom

I don't find that's the case with my Fabia. I've set it to chirp when locking and find it useful to confirm that I've locked the car. It's easily loud enough for that use - in my case anyway.

My previous Fabia with the factory fitted alarm had an extremely loud lock/unlock sound - far louder than the Octavia. So much so that I had it turned off as it was very disturbing for the neighbours.

Re: Alarm/lock beep

I only use mine to notify me when it's locked.

There is a third option of a chirp if the alarm has been activated.

Re: Alarm/lock beep

i currently only have lock confirmation on bleep. the unlock became annoying when leaving sinisters house late at night and to give peace to her neighbours i deactivated it. currently have indicator flashes on all lock and delocks. the bleep can also be activated to either blip lock/unlock and key hole lock/unlock (using key in the lock)

Have set mine - locking and unlocking, and i can tell what you meant now. TBH it is quieter than i was expecting but at least it isnt really leary - certainly no worry about waking up the neighbours!

Re: Alarm/lock beep

i found the alarm notification stu, enabled it, found a deserted area, sat in the car, triggered the alarm and after if finished press the unlock button (as if i had come back from the shops) and heard/saw/flashed nothing. just the usual 2 quick indicator flashes with nothing to tell me the alarm has been triggered.

Re: Alarm/lock beep

I had mine set by Skoda on my Octy II Elegance to beep on unlock and lock. Quite disappointed actually as it always beeps on locking, but seems to beep on unlocking only after pressing unlock 2 or 3 times! Hasn't affected the locking or alarm functions though, so not bothering to take it back.

Re: Alarm/lock beep

No, you should be able to choose either, or both, independantly. For example, I just have the lock beep on, because I want to be sure the request has worked.

Can't be 100% on the procedure for the Octy2; possibly slightly different with the CAN interface.

I have covered this before but the indicators don't flash when I lock my Octy - can this be altered with VAG com?
