Went to get a takeaway tonight on the way back from walking the dog. I took the keys out the ignition to pop in and left the wife in it with the dog in the boot. Three times the alarm went off without me setting the alarm in the first place, but went off each time I 'disarmed' the car, if you see what I mean. Does anyone know why it's doing this and how I can stop it from doing it the future? The wife tried pressing the button on the B pillar just to see but it still went off.

Any ideas??

Doesn't the care lock itself when you take the keys out and don't do anything for a certain time?
If this is the case, I guess the alarm goes on automatically when the doors are locked.
If you push the button on the B-pillar before closing the car it shuts off the interior alarm, but I don't know what happens if it closes automatically.

Try when you lock the car to press the locking button on key fob twice, this deactivates the dead locks and alarm. Hope this helps

Stupid question but did you accidentally arm the car (i.e do it out of habit), then unarm it when you remembered people in car .....but didn't open door. If so it will reset alarm.

Just pressing unlock without the car being locked will do the same (doors lock in 30 sec) if no door is opened in the mean time.

Okay, so let me get a definitive answer here...

I turned the engine off, took the keys out and walked into the shop. Without doing anything with the keyfob, the alarm went off after a very short while and thereafter twice more. Nothing more than that

a) what is the car doing

b) how do I stop it doing it again?

Two possibilities I can think of:

1 You pressed the lock button on your remote without realizing it. Do you have any other keys or anything else hard in your pocket (steady down you dirty mined sods !) that could accidentally press the button.

2 Your cars electrics have a fault which needs fixing.

My money is on #1 as the most likely, as I've locked and unlocked mine several times, especially if I bend over with other stuff in the same pocket as the remote.

If I did do it accidentally, then unlocked, what happens with the alarm then? That's why I asked the questions in the previous post. Hopefully someone can give it a definitive answer to them.

My alarm regularly goes off if I lock the car very quickly after closing the doors. I just unlock and relock and all is well.

I suspect that there is enough air turbulence caused by closing the door to set the alarm off.

IIRC, if you locked it accidentally, then unlocked it, and you didn't open a door within 30 seconds of unlocking, the car will relock itself and rearm the alarm system. Movement inside the car will then set off the alarm.

The car "thinks" that when you unlocked it, because you didn't open a door, that you did so unwittingly.

You failed to say if your car has been involved in any sort of shunt by what you describe I can only assume it has or has had some sort of bodywork modification the alarm wiring runs close to the surface both front and rear to allow for an upgrade to the LS42I alarm system.
It sounds like the wiring has been pinched between the body panels this would more apparent in damp conditions when the voltage drop is greater
