A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

Right
Recently, have found a few potential/definite issues with the car So, am after some opinions/info on them that you may have/know

Firstly

My Drivers doorcard lining has began to bubble and lift from the Card;

Any ideas as to why? It's not my elbow, i use the lower rest for that... Reckon i can get a replacement on Warranty for it?

Secondly

It seemingly took a Wazz lastnight - has happened before, but left puddles as wasn't parked on slope)
I had a rather long trail of water emerge from under it - Coolant levels haven't dropped either - it appears it's from under the Driver, maybe by the footpedal sort of area? Any ideas?

Thirdly, and Lastly

Rear Disc, Passenger Side - it is showing 2 lines of what look like fine dimples, running across the disc face - almost like very fine cracks;

I'm considering popping by a dealership tomorrow to get them to give an opinion (and write it down for me if they say it's fine, just in case... )Anyone had experience of this atall?Cheers in advance

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

Let me tell you about leaking.
Once, I've hit the dog getting out of the motorway (company car - Megane).
I've stopped the car and there was some liquid leaking bellow the car. Called assistance and as they took half an hour to get there, leaking has stopped. I've checked coolant level, washer bottle, oil, brakes fluid... all looked ok. When assistance came they asked if I had air conditioner on, before I've stopped. I said yes... So it's condensed water, that's all. When you parked the car that night, were you driving before with AC on?
About door bubbling, go to your dealer, they'll replace it on warranty. I've had problem with chrome door inner handle. Chrome was pealing off and I've cut myself on it. Replaced with no problems, just had to wait one week for part to arrive.
Those disks look OK to me, but only if you have low mileage. Is your car still new? Disk surface is not perfectly flat when new. So it needs some time to get perfect, let's say up to 500 or even 1000 km sometimes. If you have more than that on the clock, then visit the dealer. Do you feel that car is shaking when you brake? If you think it's cracks, then look on the other side (inside) of the disk and see if it has marks on the same place. If it does then disk has cracked and is very, very dangerous.

Yes, i had the AC on, i thought this would be the cause of it, but just thought i would confirm it

Will mention this on next Service which is due soonish, see if it will be done on Warranty

The Discs have done 31,000 Miles
No Shaking/Vibrations or Funny Noises
They Look slightly like Cracks, but more like lines of small indents
Will visit a Dealer about them
Cheers

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

do you like to give your car a good thrash? to me that looks like the sort of fine cracks you get when you overheat the discs, used to be a regular ocurrance on my focus, blue discs, wears off with time but the resulting fine cracks remain, i think i've got them on the octavia too, came from a speed i don't wish to mention to a standstill and the pads were smoking

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

Is the handbrake worked off of a cam pushing the pads onto the disc?
Or are they the sort that have a set of brake shoes that run on the inside of the disc?
Use to get lines like this on my astra coupe once i'd been parked up. (soon rubbed off)

If not they do look like defects (cracks) to me pal, deal with this sort of thing in my dad job. Quite suprised they run all the way across the disc tbh though, usually need a weak spot to go from like drilled discs.
I do Non Destructive Tests on fastenings forgings and castings, typical sort of indications id expect to see on poor forgings/castings.
If you'd have been closer i could have probably helped you determine wether they were or wernt.
But on the side of caution i'd have the rear discs and pads changed.

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

Would your doorcard problem be water ingress from the window and getting underneath the trim lining.the amount of water that comes in when i have my window open slightly in the rain is ridiculous.

PS: Don,t take it to Westover Skoda Corfe Mullen as it will end up worse than when you took it in.
Good luck

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

That is quite typical damage caused by elbows on the doorcard, I have seen a few.

I would agree the water is the A/C

It's very difficult to be sure from the photo but I would say there is every chance they are cracks and I would want it looked at ASAP.

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

The marks on the disks are very similar to those on my Focus and Octavia. They were caused by being parked up on the roadside with the handbrake on. They were caused by salt and water corrosion. It only took a week with salt throw on by a gritter.

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

My door card does that too - right where I rest my elbow.

As previously said, the 'leak' is condensation from the A/C.

No ideas on the brakes, but I'd say that its a potential safety issue, and needs to be looked at ASAP.

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

I'd say those shapes on the disks match the sides of the brake pad's contours pretty well. Probably nothing to worry about, just the disks collecting debris round their edges while the car was standing still.
Get the door card replaced. No seller in his mind can refuse that as a warranty job. If he does have him put that in writing and call the Skoda mother ship.

Re: A couple of potential Issues - opinions/info please?

I'd get the discs looked at, however there is a reasonable change that it is pad deposit as the lines run in a similar shape to the pads.

As for the door card, I think regardless of whether it's elbow or not, that is a common thing to do and a car should be able to take it, so it should be done under warranty.

Was the car popping out of gear on the over run?

No, the mount came disattached from the Engine, causing it to drop and lunch the Cambelt and kill the engine. They said it had a twisted Chassis after a Car-park dink. It didn't.

That led to Skoda not wanting to do anything to fix under warranty until we had to prove the Car was straight. Long Story...

Mines the same, and has bubbled in the same place where I rest my elbow when driving. Passenger door is still fine though. My car is 3 years old though with nearly 56K miles on it.
