Re: Deal or No Deal!

What would be the list price for this specification?

More important....What would be the wait for an ordered one?

I wonder if anyone (not a dealer) actually owns one yet?

Re: Deal or No Deal!

I don't think you will be able to pick up the car until April/May. It will still be used as a Demo Until then.Think of all the Testers ( like me Tommorrow ) who just might thrash it.....I once offered to buy a " Demo " but couldn't have it for 3 months........It's somthing to do with Dealer Tax or somthing............So I've been told

Re: Deal or No Deal!

Yes officialy dealers are meant to keep demo's for three months - however they may let you have the car for a 3 month roadtest and then complete the paperwork.

Re: Deal or No Deal!

Rule of thumb, as soon as the car leaves the dealership you lose the VAT, so you ideally need the discount for a demo to be worth at least that, as it is in effect a 2nd hand car.

So 17.5% of £18500 is £2755 so personally, I wouldn't pay more than £15745.

Re: Deal or No Deal!

Plus I would be suprised if a dealer would sell a demo so soon,it may be some time before they will receive there next demo.

They may use you to order a "customer" car which in actual fact would be there next demo -- this would allow them to have a better specced and different colour demo to the other dealers.

Re: Deal or No Deal!

My octy vRS was going to be the dealer demo, I bought it before they had even registered it. They had only had a few days, and a week later it was mine. Hence why I had one of the 1st in the UK apart from the press cars.

Re: Deal or No Deal!

What did they offer for yours Steve??

It's a little surprising that they want to shift the demo car already, perhaps they need the business.

Re: Deal or No Deal!

There's a New Octy vRS on Autotrader, all the pictures are on there, Black, 18's and so on. Delivery March sometime, can't remember the price but it's obviously the garages demo that they are trying to get a firm buyer for.

Actually he is right if you want to subtract the VAT element you only subtract 15%.

Not sure who you're saying is right.....

But 17.5 % of 18500 = 18500/100 * 17.5 = 3237.5.

Vat is calculated as 17.5 % of the EX VAT price. Thus the VAT inclusive price you pay is 117.5% of the original price.

Say i buy something for £100 + vat. 17.5 % of £100 = £17.5, so the total price is £117.5.

So, now if something is priced at £117.5 inc vat and I wish to pay the ex vat price, I divide the price by 117.5 and then multiply back by 100 to get back to my £100. (Your subtract 15% is only an approximation - 15% of 117.5 is 17.625, which would make the ex vat price 99.875 which is wrong.)

In Sooty's post, the price was £18500. This is 117.5% of the price as it includes the VAT, so divide by 117.5 and multiple by 100 to give £15744.68. So I agree with the price, but not the comment of "17.5% of £18500 is £2755". 17.5 % of £15745 is approx £2755. £15745 + £2755 gives £18500.
