Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

I think it's 8% on the front end plus some cars carry other incentives at certain times.

If you want 15% you need to go and look at Ford.

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

Plus there are %bonuses too, e.g. if they sell 5 cars they might get an extra 1%, 20 cars an extra 5%, hence sometimes a really stonking deal can be had, as one extra sale could lead to a massive extra bonus.

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

Skoda have a current offer which gives free equipment upgrades -

18" wheels
Jumbo Box/Armrest
Dual Zone Aircon
Rear Electric Windows

Those should be included in a car which is sourced from a UK dealer, albeit by a broker.

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

Is the free 18" alloy/rear leccy window/dual zone climatronic/jumbo box freebie not included? Well worth getting for the vRS.

Free vRS upgrades

EDIT: Beaten to it

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

You would be wise to have those goodies on the car. Would be helpful when it eventually comes to selling the old girl.

Besides, the jumbo box and 2zone make a massive difference to the interior.

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

If they get 14% then I would think that is all of the front end margin and most of the back end so probably a reg bonus or a dealer in need of a target.

Skoda work in quarters and a new one has recently started so dealers might not be desperate just yet.

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

Be wary of buyacar/drive the deal. When I enquired, although they would match the free upgrade offer from Skoda, the car would be pre-registered, ie shown as 1 previous owner. Something didn't sit right with me about this...

I mentioned these companies to my dealer and his response was (though I know he was bound to say this!) he explained that Skoda themselves had tried to place an order for a car as a test and ended up losing their deposit money of £500. Quite likely all dealer BS but.... Up to you in the end.

My local dealer offered a £1500 disocunt off new without any haggling...which included all the FOC upgrades.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do...

Cheers

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

Thanks for that cider, maybe I should just get down to farmers in Leicester (my local dealer) and find out what they can do for me. After all I’ve not even driven the petrol vRS yet, only the tdi vRS that I was taken with but held back in the summer when my dad passed away. My little boy is really taken with the race blue and I don’t want to disappoint him too (still amazed by the motorpoint deal!)
Oh well will keep looking tomorrow...

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

Drive the deal will supply you a new car not a pre-reg with the option pack as they are new builds from a dealer.

No idea why they told you that, but that is a rumour that a lot of dealers have tried on with me, but DTD proved were not true.

Re: Dealer margin is it 15%?

I had a dealer explain to me how it worked and iirc it was 7-8% straight and then some bonus's they get from Skoda and some sort of a dealership award for hitting monthly figures. Everything all in came to 15% so I set my target at 16% plus a free tank of 98ron

The haggling is always the best bit of buying a car imo!
