Hi there, picked up the new car yesterday and so far, I m very happy with it!

I thought Id post some photos of the car with the Eiback lowering springs fitted - it may help someone decide whether they want to specify them or not - I could certainly have done with some photos when I was trying to decide!!

When I arrived mine was parked right behind another brand new VRS so the difference was marked. According to the technician and sales manager it also drives far better now then when standard (the sales manager now has a set on order for his VRS hatchback)! I personally cant comment as I didnt drive it back to back.

All I will say is that ride comfort appears as good as I remember from the test drives and it now looks, imo, far better than a standard car on 18's!

Thanks for the photos; much appreciated. I'm sorry but IMHO it is not right!

Check the gap between tyre and wheel arch.

On the OEM car the gap is the same all the way around the circumference of the tyre.

On the eibach'd car the gap is less in the top half of the wheel and then appears to splay out in the lower half level with the door sill.


For me; I think I'll stick to OEM springs (although I have got Koni FSDs fitted).

I personally think the 'eibach'd' car looks sooo much better! If my insurance wasn't high enough, I would be tempted!

Thanks for the coments guys - positive AND negative. Id everyone had exactly the same taste we'd have nothing to discuss on here!

Did the school run this morning over all the usual speed humps (read; 'mountains') and again, I have to say, the ride really hasnt deteriorated due to the springs.

Unless my eyes deceive me, on the OEM car the gap between the wheelarch and the top of the tyre is significantly larger than at the sides. In fact the gap on the rear wheels is approaching 4x4 proportions...

Hello Len, the handling is very impressive although Im still giving the motor a few more hundred miles before I start using the power and brakes fully.

At the moment I'd have to say that my Mk1 (as per my signature still) can carry more speed through the corners but this car is just more grown up in a lot ways; handling included. Unfortunalty I dont have the experience of driving around in my Mk 2 vrs on standard springs for a direct comparison but as I said above; the guys at the dealership were all saying how much better it handled than standard ones they drive regularly.
