Finally got my Octy VRS TDI Estate!!

Picked it up this morning, and o my god!!!! , what a car, i am extremely happy thus far. Drove it home from Manchester in the most horrid weather i have seen in a while but that did not wipe the smile of my face. The weather is still crap here so i will post some piccys when the weather perks up a bit.

I have spent the afternoon flicking through the manual, playing with maxidot etc (which the manual does not cover fully) and putting all my bits and bobs in it for work (phone, tool kits etc).

Not sure on the reverse parking sensors yet, but i am sure they will grow on me. Car is already got crap up the sides due to my gravel drive, so would still love to know if the rallyflapz will fit it???? (thats a hint if anyone knows?.

Glad i went for the 18" alloys, the do look loads better and i cant say i have a problem with the ride, if anything i am very suprised as to how good it really is, only time will tell i suppose.

Anyway, back to the manuall to see if i can work out how to use maxidot to program the car to open all the doors at once................................

It's still nice for people to post pics of their shiny new cars for all to see.

Get some pics on here when the weather clears up

Re: Finally got my Octy VRS TDI Estate!!

Well done; glad to know that you made it home safely, and with a big grin I expect; or perhaps only medium size grin due to the weather.

On the RallyFlapz topic, having got them on my vRS hatch I would be surprised if they do not fit the Estate.

The flaps themselves are really quite flexible (or should I say flappy) and the fixing brackets at the rear sort of bend into a U shape as the wheelarch liner they fix to is about an inch (2.5cm) 'inside' the line of the wheelarch that the flap rests against (have a look?).

There is therefore plenty of scope IMHO for adjustment of the fitting to cover any possible (unexpected) difference in the bumper of the Hatch vs. Estate.

Overall a very worthwhile purchase as they definitely keep the muck off your car. Just be careful when reversing to a kerb (there is a warning in the fitting instructions). As the flaps are long they can get trapped between kerb and wheel, and with the rotation of the wheel will get dragged down. I have had to adjust the fitting of one flap twice now 'cos of this, and am now driving with only one flap. I reversed onto a kerb that I didn't expect to be there and ripped it off. Doh!!

It has though served to show how effective they are as, two days later, one rear quarter is pretty clean and the other filthy dirty. When I refit them I might just trim 5cm off the length to minimise the risk of future accidents. Perhaps I should then call them TrackFlapz?

I think one of the members on here took his car to Rallyflapz so they could develop the design for the vRS. They are in Bolton, North M'cr IIRC.

Maybe if the standard ones don't fit you can contact them and see if they want a test-bed for the estate versions.

Edit - found the original thread - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-o...via-vrs/67247/

Edit again - sorry I now realise you are fully aware of that thread!
