First 1500km on new RS

Here is what the manual says
"Up to 1000km
- Do not drive faster then 3/4 of the max speed of the gear in use, that is 3/4 of the max permissible engine speed
- Do not use full throttle
- Avoid high engine revs
- Do not tow a trailer

From 1000 to 1500km
-Increase the power output of the engine gradually up to full speed of the gear engaged that is up the max. permissible engine revolutions"

Later on down the page it defines max permissible engine speed as being "marked by the beginning of the red zone on the scale of the rev counter"

They also mention that the 1st 1500km are most important as engine friction is highest since the engine and various parts are not harmonized. Which I suppose means bedding in.

Anyway - do people stick to these guidelines on new cars ?
My last RS - the service manager told me to floor it

That is was all toss about taking it easy and of course I never bothered to read the manual.
At 12k miles I had no tyre thread left and my timing belt needed replacing as it had come loose and developed cracks

Reckon I will take things easy on this car. It's a pity I do low mileage. 1500km is going to take a while to put up.

Mate, - stop fretting about it, - just be sensible and don't thrash the **** off it straight away.

And also use varied revs which helps the 'bedding in' process IIRC - ie not long motorway stints.
