Gonna Kill My Son!

He's 2 1/2 and last weekend decided to "draw" all over my beautiful octavia with a sharp stone - the result is scratches over every body panel except the roof.

i've managed to polish some of it out with autoglym polish but i was wondering if i'd have any more luck with one of the t-cut scratch filler waxes ?

the scratches aren't right down to the metal but they are still noticeable even after a wax job - any advice greatfully received!

Why not save yourself the bad press and life sentence in prison for murder and put him up for adoption?

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

i'd rather not go through the insurance if i can help it - i live in northern ireland and i already pay far too much for insurance as it is.

i reckon if i can get something to mask the scratches a little it'll be a lot less noticeable and i wouldn't be reminded of his handywork every time i walk past the car!

...as for the son, i'm keeping a book of his transgressions to be presented to him on his 18th birthday - so far there's an 1200 quid laptop, a 100 quid mobile phone, a 550 quid lcd tv .......

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

May be worth taking it to a detailer?

WRT to bill presentation, what's wrong with slavery at 11 y.o. ?

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

see if there are any detailer's near your neck of the woods and see if they can remove the scratches - should be cheaper than a re-spray....

(see/google detailing world...)

I've used the T-cut scratch filler 'waxes' before but didn't last too long.
May need to apply it and then apply a more durable wax atop it.
I'm sure one of the detailing buffs will be along to help out soon

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

Pop up some pics of the worst ones.

Also can you feel them with your fingernails?

If so you might be in a bit of trouble.

I'd be looking at the adoption route myself....

Or failing that , a good beating

Didn't they used to be sent up chimneys at the age of two?

I'm sure it's not too late for you to enroll the little darling in chimney-cleaning school!

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

Hi,

He is only two and a half, and they like to experiment at that age.
I am sure that you are thinking more of him, than you do for the lump of skoda metal.
Seriously speaking, I don't think that I would have not been a bit upset.
I have seen some kind of miracle polish in the daily Express new paper that claims to get rid of scratches.
I have never used this one, but it may be worth searching on their website.
Or maybe get a price from a mobile dent/scratch repair man.
Best of luck.

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

I guess I got off lightly then - my little one "drove" his matchbox car all over my car.
Have some nice matching pairs of scratches. Look like they'll polish out np tho'....

It happens I guess.....

who would that be then ? pm me details if poss

i checked the scratches and although a couple of them can 'sorta' be felt with a fingernail it's really just the slightest bit - so no stanley knife style gouges thankfully. I treated the worst of them with the t-cut polish and it seemed to make the scratches a little less evident but i still think i could do with getting it professionally looked at.

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

I think the strength in a 2 year olds arm ain,t gonna make many deep scratches so T Cut and a hard buffing will certainly do the trick iam sure.

Re: Gonna Kill My Son!

My 5 year old daughter darnt touch the car without my say so, not even open the door etc. She stands by it petrified and walks past it in the driveway as if she is walking on the edge of a sword, scared she will trip and touch the car.

Just hope I can train my 1 yr old son to do the same.............
