By heck I've been remapped.

Took my car in and sure enough it had to have 5 new bolts in its fuel pump.
Then I had to sign another bit of paper because they had remapped my computer.
I asked why and they said orders from VW HQ to upgrade the software on all cars that have their fuel pumps re-bolted. That was , it seems, all they knew, (or would tell me ).
Anyone know what goes on ?

Is it any faster? If not, tell them they've not remapped it right!

I can only assume the original map was for the old way the fuel pump was setup, and its tweaking means the fuelling on the original map needed tweaking too.

Interesting. This could have interesting implications once aftermarket remaps become as common on the New Octavia as they are on other models...

You know there's only one way to cure this problem.

Ok, there's more than one reputable engine tuner obviously.

Can those of you with VAG-COM use it to read SW versions of your maps prior to going to the dealer.

It begs the thought that this may become common place during servicing.

When I had the bolts replaced nothing was even hinted at with regards to the ECU - mind you that was December 29th so the recall could have been adjusted since then. I've not noticed any drop in MPG (still in the 50's). Reprogramming the ECUs is fairly common these days as manufacturers upgrade the software along with other parts that get modified based on customer experience.

When my 16v was having problems there were several different versions of the software released over a 12 month period.

My first service is due in the next month or so so if I remember I might ask if it was done or needed to be done.

I don't like troubling them with trivia but I was so puzzled by this that I decided to get in touch with one of my contacts in Mlada Boleslav.
It seems that there is "no current software flash" out from VW or Skoda connected with the fuel pump bolt change lark.
I think we are in porky territory again. Oh dear. I'll have to have a further in-depth chat with the dealer it seems.

Took my Octy 130 in for the fuel bolt change last week , the dealers took about 30 minutes , stamped the service book for the recall activity , . I did not sign for anything else , so assume no eemap on my ECU .
