Default Help Me Decide....

Hi there,

After I had introduced myself in the "new" section I am now after some advice. I am looking at buying an Octavia from a Skoda dealer to include 12 month warrantee. I have a choice of two cars at a similar price both high spec Elegance models 2.0 TDi's-

Car A - 2005; 50K miles; cambelt change; full leather; 17" alloys and suspension upgrade; blue; brake fluid changed; wear on interior trim (door handles and dash)

Car B - late 2004; 28K miles; new tyres; coth interior; 16" alloys; very clean condition; silver; detachable towbar (unused)

As I said, both same price with full dealer 12 month warrantee etc

Which to go for? Both have plus points and minus points.... I really can't decide..Help please

Looking at your introduction post, I'd say go for the 2005 just because of your comment about SWMBO liking the leather seats. Also, the mileage is a bit more like it. Low mileage cars make me a bit nervous....

Interior trim is often remarkably cheap to buy from the parts dept so it might be worth considering that if it bothers you.

Or if it was me I'd work that into the deal - replace a couple of the worn panels/trim pieces for free.

And as a car that has 50k on the clock may scare other punters (not you of course) the dealer may be persudaed with the right choice of words to this free of charge.

If the price is right of course go with your feelings about them.
Good luck.

I thought I'd report back on what I went to see today....

I went for the silver one! I was a really clean, nice, well looked after example with silly low miles. The seats had no wear, there were no stone chips, no scuffs on the bumpers, only a minor scuff on the NSF alloy which will be sorted. The garage was not too moveable on the price but came down about £195 off and will add in a new set of mats and 6 months tax. Fairly happy with that.

Before I agreed to either I went to see the other one back in my home town. It just didn't seemed as cared for though this one had no stone chips either and the paintwork was in pretty good nick too. The alloys were scuffed all round though and I was assured they would be refurbished so you couldn't tell them from new. I did love the leather seats though
There really wasn't much in the two deals though. My heart said the one with bigger alloys, suspension kit and leather, my head said the lower mileage and tidier car all round.

I hope (think) I've made the right choice.....
