| Hi All, As the title says, I'm now a vRS owner! Went to have a look at an Red 06 Estate at an independent dealers about 100 miles from my home on Friday and it's now sitting on my drive. ![]() Wasn't completely expecting that... my previous experience of the Octavia stretched as far as sitting in one at a local dealers for a couple of minutes. Spotted one on the web last Monday and it looked well priced for the spec.. MFD2, Maxidot, Xenons, Dual Zone, Jumbo Box, 18" Zeniths, Heated Seats, rear PDC, Light assist and autowipers, so I thought I'd take a chance and go have a look. Wasn't actually expecting to buy the first one I saw, especially as I don't really like red cars, and even if I did I was just expecting to put down a deposit and collect it later.. So much for that plan! After an hour and a half or so looking it over and taking it for a test drive (As I said I hadn't actually driven or been driven in one before but found that I loved the drive, which was lucky otherwise I think my mate who gave me a lift to the dealers would have made me walk home!!) I decided it was too good an opporunity to pass up and ended up giving the dealer all the money there and then to take it home that day!! The one advantage of the car being so far away was it meant that I got to have a good long, grin inducing blast down the country lanes in my shiny new motor!! ![]() Anyway, like I said I love the car and luckily so did SWMBO! The only niggle I have is the light assist. With it set to auto lights they are always on! I've done a search and have found that people have said that they can be very sensitive, but mine are on all the time, even driving around during the bright sunshine we had over the weekend. Could I be doing something wrong or does this sound like a warranty job? (once I get it transferred) The only other minor disappointment is that I didn't realise that oldie maxidot didn't have all the options that the new one does.. my own fault though for not investigating enough I guess! Have come from many years in company cars so am looking forward to being able to do what I want to this one as I own it, subject to SWMBO sanctioning any costs of course , and will hopefully make my first mod this week... the off button for the dual zone climate control obviously!Sorry the post was a bit lengthy, thanks if you got this far!! And also thanks for everyone who has posted their thoughts and opinions on this site, means I made the right choice with the Octy vRS and that I didn't end up walking home on Friday!! Gav |

| Briskodian | Re: How did that happen?!? Noobie vRS owner! Glad you happy with the purchase and I am sure you will have lots of fun in it. I am assuming you have gone for a petrol one? If you do not mind me asking what reg, miles and how much did you pay? |

Hi PSM, Certainly was the petrol! Had a BMW 320d Msport as a company car previously. Although I was very impressed with it for a diesel and enjoyed the car I'm still a petrolhead at heart! it was an 06 with 24k miles and just over £10k

Hi Domo, See here for details of the mod.. http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/how-a...atronic/63652/ ... main reason this one's first is it doesn't cost a bean.. until I decide I need to by a new button for it of course! The red has definitely grown on me since seeing it in the flesh, and one reason I actually prefer it to the other colours is I'm not a fan of the look of the rear relector strips and these aren't so obvious on the red. Yes, guessing I am going to have to take it into the dealers to sort out, will wait for the warraty to be transferred first and guess I'll just have to go through the hardship of reaching down every time I need to turn the lights on and off!! Will try to get some pics up next w/end. Thanks Gav

| Re: How did that happen?!? Noobie vRS owner! Hi Ste Thanks for the welcome! That's why things happened so fast! Can't afford a new one so had to be used. When I saw this one with all the options I was after, some I wasn't too fussed about and one that I didn't expect to get in a month of Sundays (heated seats), and all on an Estate which is also what I was after but didn't expect to get for my budget I had to go see it quick and snap it up as it was more than perfect for my situation/requirements! Your sig also reminded me that it has cruise too.. another bonus! Thanks Gav
