Default i bet you try this NOW !!

Hello folks..i've been reading the thread about turning off the climate control, and seen the different ideas about turning it off.
Well, here is the proper way (my dealer showed me)
Turn the centre knob anticlockwise, until there is only ONE led showing..leave it like that for a second, then turn anticlockwise again..hey presto ..it even comes up 'off' on your radio screen

I knew that. You can spin it as hard as you want it will only get to the lowest setting, and after that it takes one more separate click to turn it off completely. But why would you want that anyway?

The only problem with that is that you have to set the fan speed back to where it was otherwise it won't be in Auto mode. Using the "off" button, it actually sends it back to exactly where it was before you pressed it, as well as being a lot easier to use IMO.

Pressing Auto again does the same job, one button press = one button press no matter what the button is.
I don't find the fan noisy at all on the first 3 steps of the dial, not to mention that I wouldn't turn it off completely even if the Pope rang, when it's 35C outside in full sun.

I've managed just fine with the 'Off' button so cannot see how this extra more comlplicated method will be of any use? Is there anything extra by doing this that I'm missing?

No it doesn't.

Using the on-off mod puts it back where you left it. For example if you had manually over-ridden the controls to recirculate, econ, air directed to footwell and fan on full then that is exactly how it comes back.

Restart from same situation by using the auto button and it comes back in auto mode.

When I did the mod, I did it cos it was there - but now I do actually use it! - to turn off the climate control when I have the windows open.
