Re: Maxidot Problem

As long as you are under 60k miles and 3 years I see no reason to worry.

Re: Maxidot Problem

You replace the entire binnacle, not just the maxidot, and you need to do this at a main dealer, to recode the immobilizer, mileage info, keys, etc into it.
Probably about 200Efor the part shipped, from this guy: Octavia II | Interiér | ALPA-Auto - Úpravy seda?ek & prodej originálních dopl?k? voz? ?koda .

Re: Maxidot Problem

I have tried to buy from that guy on several occasions and found him unreliable and I know someone that lost money trying to deal with him.

This is good to know. I'm trying to buy the function package to jumbo box from him. (The replacement for rear ashtray, includes bottle holder and smaller ashtray).

He replied to my email pretty fast, but only payment options are bank transfer or western union.
Not sure if I want to buy from him after your comment.

The function package isn't expensive. 38 euros. So not a big loss if he doesn't deliver.....

Any other way or place to get that item?

Would someone please get the part number for this item? I could ask a price quote from my local dealer.

Re: Maxidot Problem

Around here a number of people have ordered from him and got their stuff. They did mention his english was not the best.
Still, I'd wire, not WU the money to him, with a detailed explanation of what the money is for in the comments section. That could be used against him if he doesn't deliver.

My order for the storage pack for jumbo box went in yesterday. Money's been transferred and now just waiting for the item to arrive.

Fingers crossed. Seller seemed trustworthy.

I'd keep an eye on it mate while the car is still under warranty. Mine was playing up for a few days and then went back to normal. Was after alomst a year of working normally before it just stopped completely without warning. If you have any doubt get it checked out.

It replaces the storage drawer on the back of the Jumbo-box with an adjustable bottle/cup holder drawer / ashtray combo.

Much more convenient because there's no bottle or cup holders for the rear seat passengers.

My Previous Octy did this on one occasion in the three years I owned it and it worked fine again later that day. It never re-occurred.(there were a few "temporary" minor electrical gremlins with that car coming to think of it!! (05 Octy Elegance estate)

I replaced this and you also need a slightly different surround as well as this:

Makes a big difference if you have kids with sticky pop bottles!

Thanks for the info. I forgot the new surround, but now it's on order also.

The bottle holder is excellent even for adults with bottles having something more alcohol -based

I don't know. In Finland it's standard in Ambiente and Elegance spec.

Parts arrived today. Was very easy to install. Alpa Auto sends the unit complete with new surround. I already bought a new surround so loss of 27 euros for me

I must say that this storage pack is very handy.
