Maxidot problems

Day 2 of second hand Vrs. Still loving it!!

I have a problem with the Maxidot. The speed waring was set at 19 mph (a little low!). I have managed to delete it but can't seem to be able to reset.

Following the instruction you press button A on the end of the stalk for 1 sec and the options come up. Then press B briefly to enter that option. It worls for Audio, Set Up etc but when ever I press B to get into the menu which includes speed warning it always takes it straight back to the trip computer etc.

Am I missing something (probably yes!)

Thanks

Re: Maxidot problems

The speed warning is set in tyre options thing I think. Its to add a speed warning when using winter tyres that have a lower speed rating.

Thanks

I just can't get it to work on the MFD. You press the end of the stalk for more than one second which brings up the menu with MFD at the top of the list. Then you are supposed (I think!) to press the button the underside of the stalk to access the MFD menu but that takes me straight back to the trip computer every time. I'll have another read of the manual probaly misread something.

Re: Maxidot problems

once you are in the menu with your options such as audio, mfd, setup (possibly phone and navigation aswell if you satnav and bluetooth) scroll up to the mfd and press the button on the bottom of the stalk, then using the two buttons on the end of the stalk scroll through the different screens till you get to your speed warning

i've got to go out for 10 mins, i'll check it my self when i get in the car

Re: Maxidot problems

yup checked it. once your on the trip computer screen use the two buttons on the end of the stalk to scroll through the screens till you get to the speed warning one. if your moving it will take your current speed. if you've stopped you can set it to anything you desire

amused me to set it at 60 when i first got the car, how quickly you could get it to beep

Re: Maxidot problems

Thanks. I'll try again tomorrow. The problem I was having was that I had it on Multi Function and then hit the "underneath" button which rather than taking me into the Multi Function "sub menu" always takes me the other way back to the normal trip display. If I'm on "Set up" or the other screens when you press the "underneath" button it takes you into "Set up" rather than back to the beginning

I'm a bit lost!!

Re: Maxidot problems

When you can move (with the button on the end of the stalk) between MPG Miles, Time etc. If you then press the end for more than 1 second it gives you the list Audio, MFD, Set UP etc . It;s then that I have the problem. Audio will be activated by pressing the underneath button as will Set up etc but the top one on the menu (MFD?) just goes back to the "normal MPG, Miles, Time" display rather than deeper into the menu to allow me to change the speed limiter.

Anyway I think I may have completely lost myself in this and as the book is in the car I'm going to have a proper read and see if I can solve it. I hope!!

Re: Maxidot problems

This might be a stupid reply but I found that I could only set the maxidot options correctly with the car doors shut!. If the driver's door was open when sitting in the car I couldn't access some of the options. Presumably the door open warning indicators on the display messes things up.

Re: Maxidot problems

when your on the screen with the miles, mpg and time, press the up and down buttons on the end of the stalk, it should scroll through a series of screens with instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, average speed, driving time a couple of others and one should be warning speed

Correct - I spend ages trying to get it to work when I first got the car with maxidot. Warm evening, door open, nice sounds - know what I mean?

....Then it slowly dawned

Re: Maxidot problems

Basically the options menu is the "root" structure of Maxidot.

So selecting MFD displays the MFD information

selecting Audio displays the Audio information

selecting Setup takes you to lots of settings about the car.

So MFD, menu, MFD is a return trip back to where you started from.

Its like looking at, say, page 4 in a book, referring back to the contents and then going back to page 4.

Back to your initial question - when in MFD scroll till you get the speed warning screen. If you've reset it it should read "---" .

Now, hold the underside button (B) for a few seconds. If moving your current speed will appear, if stationary it'll start at 20mph. Use the rocker switch to increase or decrease the desired warning speed. Press the underside button again to set it.

If you want to change it later, scroll to the speed warning, hold the underside button for a few seconds to reset it, release and hold again to bring up your current speed, etc, as described in the paragraph above.

Hope this helps,

Niall

Re: Maxidot problems

many thanks. the saga continues although I'm a bit closer. Popped out at lunch time and yes I've got to Speed Limiter pressed the underside button to reset to Zero" (not 20 mph on mine) or "---". It's after that that I can't make it do anything. Pressing the rocker doesn't seem to do anything either in "---" or witha "Zero" showing.

I have though (with your help!) been able to turn it off so it doesn't bleep at Zero MPH which is was doing.

Re: Maxidot problems

Right, went out to the car with my phone before heading out for some lunch. All using the buttons on the right hand wiper stalk.....

1. Use the rocker switch to navigate to the "Speed Warning"...

2. Press the underside (OK/Reset) button once to reset the speed warning

3. Press the underside button again to set the speed. (Note the white box around the speed)

Whilst the speed is in a black font with a white box you can use the rocker switch to change the speed at which the warning triggers. Once set at your desired speed you can either tap the underside button again, or just leave for a few seconds and it will set itself at the displayed speed.

Once the speed font goes white again (like the top picture) then the warning is set.

If you're still stuck after this then I'm fresh out of ideas!!

Niall

Re: Maxidot problems

Thanks. People are super helpful on this site!

I will have a go at that.

Having re-read my instruction book it only mentions setting it at your current driving speed in my edition so it may be that that is the only way. Although that would be a bit odd. Say I wanted to set it at 80 (about 75ish?) because the speedos always overread I'd have to go at the speed I didn;t want to get to to set it!

Anyway i will report back on the helpful solutions
