MFD2 Sat Nav

Hi all,

Can anybody here tell me what the MFD2 Sat Nav is like compared to say a Tom Tom Go 910?

The TT910 has voice instructions - like turn left into high street...does the MFD2 have a function like this or is it generic "turn left".

Does it also have a 3D "perspective" display or is it flat 2D only?

I don't have experiance of the TT Go 910 but I love my MFD2.

If you have Maxi Dot the MFD2 will integrate with it. You will also get voice commands via the car speakers at your chosen volume.

I would say only 2D mapping.

Re: MFD2 Sat Nav

Not as good as the tomtom in my opinion for mapping and instructions - 2d mapping and only gives the turn left (not turn left into .... text to speak) instruction - but not too far behind and has 2 big pluses for me. Firstly, it integrates well into the car (looks good) and can be seen on the maxidot. Secondly sound is good through the speakers.

I got it on my car recently as a fitted option by the previous owner, would not pay £1300 for it (would fit it myself per the instructions on her though).

Re: MFD2 Sat Nav

MFD2 is more accurate as it uses ABS sensors to work out speed/direction in addition to GPS for inital location.

It does give voice instructions to the extend of "Turn right onto B1234" or "A123" etc

There are no specific road names used in the voice instructions.

I too would never pay the full whack for it but it's worth getting if availalbe for £400ish.

Plus, you can connect an MP3/DVD/whatever you want to it and still have the autochanger available. (adaptor required of course)

You have to remember the MFD2 has been out for donkeys years while the TomToms and Navmans of this world are always being updated and changed.

Re: MFD2 Sat Nav

I have a Go 910 - it's excellent - I only wish TT would get their act together with the TMC module!

Perhaps I will keep my GO but find a more permanent mounting solution...

Re: MFD2 Sat Nav

I have had Trafficmaster's Smartnav for two years now and I think it's fantastic. The advantage over most other satnavs is that it's a live system that alerts you to traffic problems and guides you around them. I wouldn't be without it.
