| Mp3 I realise this is going to sound incredibly dim of me but what exactly are MP3 discs? I think that my new Elegance will "support" (cor!) MP3 and I have an ipod so I presumably have the ability to create them? Do I just use ordinary CD-R or RW blank discs and download as much as I can from my iPod library? Can I then have loads of music permanently in the CD changer (which never gets emptied in my experience)? Incidentally, I've ordered a 3.5mm jack to docking base cable for my iPod from Outdoorgb.com and, sod's law, there's a postal strike! PCWorld, Comet and Currys had never heard of such a thing which says volumes about their response to customer need I reckon. Any advice (in layman's lingo please) gratefully received. dill |

| Re: Mp3 MP3 files are compressed music files and yes you can burn them to cd-r but if you use a burning program such as nero make sure you select to burn them as data files (if you choose audio format it will convert them to wave files) also not sure about Elegance but my Octavia only the in dash player and not the cd changer can only play mp3 |

| Re: Mp3 Before writing to disc you need to convert your music into mp3 format. Assuming you have the conversion S/W this is easy, it will normally offer yuo a choice of bit rates (compression rates) the more you compress the lower the quality of the music when you play it back. I do not think you can easily convert your iPod music to mp3 as I believe it is protected in some way (not an iPod owner myself). There may be programmes available on the internet which can crack this for you - do a google.

| Re: Mp3 thanks both I was hoping to use my iPod library because it was easier but I couldn't find out how. I suspect I can't. So presumably I'll have to start over again. Ah well. Its raining... dill |
