| Mud and water in engine compartment Anyone noticed how filthy the engine compartment on 150 bhp fsi gets? In Scotland last week in new car, torrential rain plus very muddy roads. Lots of muddy splashes and grime on top of engine manifold, fuse box, battery box, etc. Water and road dirt must be coming through the radiator grille and landing on top of the engine; this can't be good. Apart from that very pleased with car but still getting used to the narrow torque band compared to diesels. Tremendous acceleration as long as the gearbox is used to the full but I was still getting about 35 mpg. |

| Re: Mud and water in engine compartment I have a 2.0 FSI and have noticed the same thing. I would have expected a rubber sealing strip along the front of the bonnet, but none exists. Have been meaning to post and ask whether other models do in fact have any sealing strip to seal between bonnet and the front of the car when it is closed. Anyone care to check? |
