Multi Function Steering wheel

Hi,

does anyone know if it's possible to retro-fit the multi function steering wheel on an octi 2.0 Tdi ambiente ?

I'm really missing the radio remote I had on my old Laguna (causes quite a larf when I keep reaching for something that's not there anymore

Re: Multi Function Steering wheel

I suggest you do a quick search as that topic has been asked only in the last couple of days and one or two peeps on here might get a bit stroppy with you asking about it so soon after the first post.

Good luck

Re: Multi Function Steering wheel

It was covered recently as Amanda says.

The upshot is you need a new steering wheel complete with the controller inside and a new airbag connecting loom, closely followed by a little bit of magic with VAG-COM.

Re: Multi Function Steering wheel

Thanks Stu,

Amanda, I didn't realise it causes offense to ask questions here. There appear to be many questions that have been repeated without comment, I assume that's to see if there's any updated info available. If I've offended, then I apologize, and I'll look elsewhere in future.

As I am sure you will appreciate, the same questions do come up time and time again on some subjects, it is nice if users will try to use the search and see what they come up with.

You are more than welcome to ask questions, they will normally be answered to the best of our ability and you my be directed to use the search.

Re: Multi Function Steering wheel

It is only a few people who have a slightly shorter attention span when it comes to recently repeated questions (and these people are really quite nice most of the time) and has been recently seen, it can scare new members away if you receive the short end of someone’s tongue. It is a welcoming site in the main though, so hang on in there.

Martin,

I mod at another forum. Occassionally the answers can usually be better on historic questions (ie ones from a search). Newer questions might only get a "to the best of my knowledge" answer.

When products are involved, you'll also usually find older posts (around launch of product) will offer the most information as users try to resolve themselves before getting any official of expert answer.

In popular/respected forums, sometimes this information is then used by the manufacturer who probably didn't have a clue how to solve, or simply couldnt be bothered to find a fix.

That's one such way that many of the WM5 fixes came about for PDA users!

Re: Multi Function Steering wheel

Cheers Gadgetman,

It doesn't look hopeful for this one so far, so I'll just keep monitoring.
