| Iv'e been looking for a newer car for a while, and my grandparents are looking for a smaller car, So we decided today we are simply going to do a swap between My Fabia and Their Octavia II It's a Classic 1.6MPI on a "54" Plate and 15k on the clock. I just have a few questions. First of all, it's on "Variable Servicing" and it's done 15k with absolutley no attention whatsoever, and the garage say it will remain that way until 20k. That doesen't sound right to me. And here is the absolute massive biggie question. It doesen't have air con and air con is something I love. It was a £500 option at the time, but I'm guessing that that price takes a massive hike once it leaves the factory. it obviously was never designed to have air con, Im guessing this is going to be financially unviable as they say. If it was around the 1k mark I would consider it. If anyone knows if it's possible please let me know All I can say is that the performance, brakes and fuel economy is absolutley a million times better than my old Fabia

| Re: My New Car If you want aircon i would think tradeing it in against an ambiente or better model of a similar age would be the cheapest way to do it. On the diesels on variable servicing it is 2years or up to 30k miles. It will either warn you when the oil needs doing or warn you when you get near to two years.

| Re: My New Car Wasn't aware the 1.6 8v engine could go on variable servicing...certainly the one in the Octy 1 couldn't...they must've changed something! Rob. |

So upgrading to a newer model isn't an option, I just need to find out if it's even physically possible before I think about the cost. If the servicing is okay, it's okay. That's put my mind at ease. The only thing is it has a really funny exhaust note, like how an old car sounds, if that makes any sense. Not a bad noise, just an old car noise?
