My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

Got an email today about my new car.

It was built the week before last and the other bloke on my firm who ordered one but with less options was told it is in the UK and he will have it by next week.

The reason my car is stuck in the factory is due to what they call a "technical problem" but they will not elaborate on that.

So as it stands I won't be getting my nice new Octy until easily the middle of next month.

What the hell could be the problem? The Xenons? Sports suspension? ESP?

Answers on a postcard please!

Who knows, could even be transit damage.

Give it a good look over when you get it.

The magnifying glass and fine tooth comb will be on standby.

Will I be getting ANOTHER Friday car? (My old P12 Primera was very much one of those)

Re: My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

Can you ask specifically what the reason was ? I'd be a bit worried as you wouldn't know what happened it.

Hopefully it'll work out okay.

There may have been a reason why it didn't pass quality control - better to have it sorted at source than messing around when you get it.

It's probably got green callipers on the left and red on the right, changed just as it was going through quality control.

Re: My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

It probably has no interior or something like that and someone only noticed when it was being driven out of the factory. Saying that, this is a Skoda and not one of Longbridges finest eh .

I'll see if I can get more info today.

Re: My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

Could be minor parking/stowing 'shunt'. Trouble is, a lot of these little shunts are rectified at or just before delivery stage, and only 5/6/years down the line do you find that things like rust protection was inadequate and you couldn't have known at the point of delivery!
I would be definitely be wanting some answers here - at least you know that there was a problem. Most times it is covered up and we as customers are none the wiser.

Re: My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

or it may have simply been built wrong. I used to sell new cars years ago and vauxhall used to have a code on the tracking system that if you got it meant that the car would be lost for upto a month. Ming you, had cars arrive with one side of doors a L spec and the other side in CD spec inc electric windows, central locking etc and nobody noticed at the factory!

Re: My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

A colleague once ordered a Pug 406 Estate and when he was about a week from the delivery date the garage phoned to tell him it had fallen off the transporter and been written off! He had to wait another few weeks for a replacement to be sourced.

Unhappy Re: My new Octy isn't being released from the factory

I hope it's not option related or i'll be waiting even longer, the car was ordered in mid March.

It's got sunset privacy glass on it, maybe one of them got smashed and they are waiting for another one, wishful thinking on my part and it's really some horrific electronics problem they've never seen before and can't solve.

I still can't find out what the exact cause is either, it's very frustrating

At least they are correcting it, rather than just sending you a duff car. I guess you have to be thankful for the fact that Skoda have quality control, something the French could do with?
