| I washed my red vRS today and discovered that the edge of the rear spoiler appears to be hazing over. It looks like a 10 year old red car! Has anyone else had this before I hear the dealer tell me they all look like that? Steve

| Re: My spoiler is changing colour! Most base colour cars are bad for this - white as well but you can't really see it! Reds are a nightmare - when I was valeting I had to powerbuff numerous red cars to bring the colour back - Volvos were the worst.

| Re: My spoiler is changing colour! Its due to oxidisation Something like T-Cut or Meguiers scratch X will bring the colour back but you will have to work at it. I did my spoiler but i used a porta cable which was a lot easier |

| Re: My spoiler is changing colour! Perhaps the red had a clear coat over the top (lacquer) this will stop it fading.

| Re: My spoiler is changing colour! Had flame red Primera GT with spoiler which was fine - but I also used red coloured wax, not because it needed it but is worked well anyway. Had car 5 years from new without any colour changes. |

| Re: My spoiler is changing colour! I was winking ![]() Besides, the car will be changed once the ashtray is full. Actually, I noticed the colour "leaching" whilst giving it a coat of Swissol ! I am treating this car as my own rather than the lease company's. Steve

| Re: My spoiler is changing colour! I think the paint 'takes' differently on fibreglass/plastic parts than the rest of the car (steel). I find applying polish to the Furby vRS bumpers and roof spoiler leaves significant paint stains on the cloth which does not happen with the steel panels.

I thought they all had a clear top coat these days? Is it one of those jobs where all the spoilers turn up in primer or bare plastic and get sprayed to match the car? Had that with replacement door mirror shells once, though it worked okay. Surely no paint colour should come off unless using a rubbing compound or T-Cut kind of polish? | |
