My vRS economy drive.

As I am going self employed as of Monday (well, sort of self employed) and paying for my own fuel for work I thought I would see what I can get out of the TDi vRS.

I am staying at my mums in Staffs tonight and have driven down from Fife. Working in Birmingham tommorrow.

Anyway, previous attempts at good economy on the 300 mile journey (Fife to Staffs) have resulted in the trip computer showing 55Mpg and actual brimming showing 54Mpg.

Today, now the car has done just over 13k I have got a trip computer reading of:

Average of 60.2Mpg
Trip of 291 Miles
Remaining of 415 miles.

Do we think that this is good?

Steve

Re: My vRS economy drive.

You bought the wrong car I reckon. But yes, 60mpg is very good for an Octavia vRS TDi.

Yes Dave your right, I did. Well, at the time I didnt but now I need it for work then economy will effect my profit. Of course, when Im out and about at the weekend then that will be a different story.

I did consider swapping it for a Scout but the finance would kill me as I am only 6 months into the existing finance for th vRS.

I think you'd struggle to achieve those figures with a Scout . On paper the vRS is more economical...

60 MPG is a great figure for a VRS. That must have involved a lot of will power and patience!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh yes sir it did........... and the help of the cruise control and decent tunes.

Have tried it before but got bored around Carlisle and booted it for the rest of the journey.

So typical though, when I do the same journey at "keeping with the flow" speeds, ie 75-85 you can guarantee seeing a couple of Talivans on the bridges so have to keep a watch. Guess what, while driving at maximum of 60 (and slowing for roadworks etc) I didnt see a solitary one. Typical.
