New boots for my vRS

Been promising some new tyres for my vRS for a while now and finally managed to find some and get them fitted.
I already had Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on it and the fronts have not fared particularily well.

So being a brave and adventurous chap I have gone for a newer relative in the shape of these. Goodyear-Performance Tire-Eagle F1 Asymmetric
They look pretty good i.e. black, round and rubbery and unless my ears deceive me might even be a little quieter.
Time will tell though as they are currently on the back and the GSD3's that were there have moved to the front.

They also have white stripes in them like the F1 tyres.

I've heard good reports of the Pirelli P-Zero range recently; notably the 'Rosso' that is designed to be a bit quieter. Tempted to switch to these when I need to.

I had the Rosso's on the Golf GT I hired. They weren't especially quiet and grip was so so - nothing really impressive. The PZero Nero's are meant to be the dogs danglies though, but life is short as a result...

I think it adds to the stealth look.

Yeah, seems to be the way the newer models are going. Same with Toyo, the new Proxes 4 doesn't look as nice as the T1-R.

I know tyre look isn't exactly a top priority, but it's a nice bonus!

My Toyo T1-Rs are amazing it's just a pity they don't last that long compared to others brands I've had.

It's always better to have the grip than the longetivity though IMO.

Know what you mean, having ran them before and will probably fit T1-Rs next. I can never work out with that type of tyre though - is longeivity reduced because you push them harder, because you know they're more capable than a more 'everyday' tyre?

Akin to using the performance, because it's there....

They look remakably similar to the Michelin PS2's but then again most asymetric tyres look the same imho!

Shouldnt take long to get rid of Contis as once the car was mapped it just shredded them

Agreed, there are many on here that were not happy with them on the OctyII vRS, it's not that they are a bad tyre but they just did not suit the car!.

Nope - but if you were to, it would accelerate it dramatically

I had SCIIs on the Fabia vRS and post-map it shredded them within a few k. I moved the rears onto the front and they had 6mm on at that point, replaced them with proper tyres within 6k as they were getting dangerous

Still - there are better tyres out there, for sure, that let you enjoy your car

My Falken FK452's replaced my Conti's. Half the price, loads more grip and pretty good on the wear front

I'll be trying to get mine changed to Proxes when possible, lease company might not like the extra expense but the way im being messed about ATM, i couldnt give a toss!

Well I didn't notice beforehand but there appears to be an annoying vibration when braking between 60-50mph and also 30-25mph.
Back to the tyre place tomorrow and I hope it will be something simple as I moved the old rears to the fronts and had the new ones on the back.

Yes, Proxes is a Toyo range: T1-S, T1-R and the new 4.

Well just got in from the tyre place.
Had to wait an hour for some shocking service.
Basically when I explained the symptoms some spotty yoof told me my discs must be warped.

What you change my tyres and that warped the discs I said?

Anyway they swapped front to back so the original rears are now on the back again and the new ones on the front and this would appear to have rectified the problem.
Less than impressed however they are consistently the cheapest in the area and now I know why.
I think in future I shall just buy the tyres there and runaway.
