Red face New L&K Electrical Fault

Guys,

Just taken delivery of my new L&K. Great car - delighted with it, but two irritating electrical faults have manifested themselves. I will take it back to the MD, but I thought I'd test your knowledge first.

1. When the light switch is set to auto [light assist] the headlights keep coming on even when in bright sunlight. I move the switch back to off, then back to auto, and the headlights go out, only to come back on when I have to restart the engine.

2. The wiper switch is set to auto [rain sensor], and when I go over a pot hole or similar bump in the road, the wipers take a wipe and then stop. Needless to say it's not raining at the time.

Any thoughts Guys?

Bazzer.

For the lights, see - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-o...eciated/49868/

Regarding the wipers, I imagine that it's seeing the wiper control move and performing a wipe function. I'd ask the MD to check/replace the wiper stalk

Can anyone confirm that a blast of the windscreen washers turns on the headlights? With all the dust at the moment the screen needs a wipe now and again and when I do, the lights come on. Take ages to go off too.

Re: New L&K Electrical Fault

Certainly the manual mentions that the lights will come on if the wipers are used a certain number of times during a time period, so with constant washing you may actually trigger the "it must be raining, so I'll put the lights on" function.

True, but this is the first wash. I have to keep the spray going for a few seconds to get the windscreen clear so this must be enough the get the lights going (oo-er misses!). Sometimes cars are too clever.....

That does sound a little too sensitive.

Saw almost the same scenario on my new vRS. I ride in to tunnel, my switch was in auto position and nothing happend. I turn on parking lights manually and when go out from tunnel reverse switch in auto possition. Low beam turn on! And was turn on whole my ride at sunny day. Strange. After restart all right - lights off on day and light on at tunnel. Think that car don t like manual switching in tunnel.

Re: New L&K Electrical Fault

Mine is a little strange too. Usually works OK, but on very bright days (yes, we have had one or two!) it really gets confused with strong shadows. I think there is a little too much logic in there, whereas a simple light meter with a fixed cut in point would be more effective.

Re: New L&K Electrical Fault

I don't mind the light issue so much as the wiper issue now. A wash and wipe, especially needed in this dry, dusty weather and the lights are on.

I think if they turned off a bit sooner I wouldn't mind. Shame you can't make some setting changes via Maxidot.

At least the wiper blade wipes the sensor - in my Avensis the wiper sweep didn't reach the sensor so the wipers would think it was still raining long after it had stopped.
