| Briskodian | New L&K Satnav Well having been a mk1 octy turbo owner and former briskodian, I've finally got round to buying another Skoda. Nearly went for the Roomster as it's cheap and got plenty of useable space, but wanted something plusher, so have just ordered an L&K Estate - the nice new 'euro-spec' one! Couple of questions.. I've ordered the satnav system. I assume I've got a 6disc changer too? Also, I notice it supports TMC, but the skoda accesories brochure suggests that it doesn't have a TMC disc which at £1350 is really bl**dy mean! Can anyone confirm/deny the above, and if so does anyone know a cheap source of TMC discs? |

| Briskodian | Re: New L&K Satnav oh.. and is the sound quality any good, because if there was one bad thing about the old skoda, it was the truly awful sound projected from the factory-fit stereo! |

| Re: New L&K Satnav Correct, the unit supports TMC but due to licensing restrictions the TMC disk needs to be purchased separatly. The disks are not that expensive from the mapping company or theres ebay of course.

| Re: New L&K Satnav I think the disc are advertised as £160 or thereabouts (IIRC), it’s an extortionate amount really when you think that you can buy a whole portable sat nav for that much and they probably bought their mapping data of the same company that sell the VAG discs. The sound quality is ok and sounds a little better than the Stream radio I reckon. |

| Briskodian | Re: New L&K Satnav Correct, it does have the 6 disk autochanger in the loadspace side panel. Also, as mannyo says, it does support TMC. I purchased the TMC enabling disk (£150) from Blue Spot Car Audio (great service from them) but have so far been disappointed with the supposedly 'additional' traffic information. I've found you're better staying tuned into BBC RDS services! |

| Re: New L&K Satnav Oddly enough Skoda do sell the TMC disk but they seem to supply the cheaper one. I have a TMC one from Tele Atlas.

| Re: New L&K Satnav Perhaps you should cancel the option and fit your own for £300 to £400 like many of us. Then you'll have some spare ££ for the TMC disk. Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide

There are only 2 mapping data companies, so yes, chances are they did buy from the same source. | |

| Re: New L&K Satnav My Octavia is a company car and I've fitted the sat nav unit. It doesn't do any damage to the car as you don't have to modify anything to install the unit and you can return it to original spec in very little time leaving no evidence of an MFD2 ever being fitted. If your boss is an **** then you may have problems on that front

| Re: New L&K Satnav I complete ripped the standard Skoda radio out of my Superb, and fitted a Pioneer touch screen setup. Mine is also a company car, but the lease company don't care as long as you return the car to standard when the lease expires. If the cars were actually owned by the company you work for, I guess it would be a different matter. Bagpuss. |

| Re: New L&K Satnav The 2 main map encoders are Navteq and Teleatlas. Navteq have the upper hand in terms of accuracy in the UK. Maybe worth a peep at the Navteq website for any offers???

| Briskodian | Re: New L&K Satnav What exactly does the telephone function do on the sat nav? I'd love to think that it had integrated bluetooth, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Is there a bluetooth kit you can add to it? I managed to "find" a tmc disc but sadly it's only the 05/06 version. |

| Re: New L&K Satnav Telephone simply employs the installed Telemute function and routes the sound from a suitably installed telephone kit of which mine incidently is Bluetooth.

| Re: New L&K Satnav I have the VW Telemute wire installed and when I get an incoming call the radio mutes and the Telephone icon changes colour. I am then able to adjust the volume of the call using the volume kn0b. This also means that any CD/iPod track being played is "paused" until the call ends..... |

| Re: New L&K Satnav Hi Guys, I agree with the comments about the TMC code, I can't believe it would have cost soo much for Skoda to have included it. I have a France cd with it and find it very useful. But I also agree about the BBD RDS being good. Whilst on the topic anyone tell me what the Rrg. 1 or Reg.12 mean on the radio Stations ? Blutooth - I got a Parrot fitted connected up and wrks a treat, uses the 'phone book from the mobile, voice recognition and can get the fancy one that will show the callers face too Got mine & fitted from ebay a guy called - smssmssms Justcarkits Tel No: 01753-673500 well worth the money and his is a good quick efficient service too. Take car guys (& gals).
