| Re: New member - introduction... Welcome. Do you have VAG-COM? Was wondering if you knew if the Bluefin increased the ECU flash counter.

| Briskodian | Re: New member - introduction... Hi All, Thanks for the warm welcome. Re the Bluefin... Have covered approx 3k miles with it active now, no issues at all so far (touch wood etc!). It makes a lot of difference although im not sure I would opt for more power even if it was easily available (ie plug in). Traction can be an issue in the wet and you can get a little bit of torque stear but I guess thats to be expected. In gear excelleration is excellent......(quote from a driver of a previous generation Audi RS4 driver after a friendly blat on some A roads "tell me thats not standard"). Drawbacks so far. Running about locally the fuel consuption takes a bit of a knock. Normally from start up just nipping around town the computer goes up to 30 / 33 mpg pretty easily. With the Bluefin im getting more like 28 / 30 mpg. On a run like this week (to Liverpool and back - 400 miles round trip) its achieving 36 mpg and thats having a bit of fun along the way (M6 toll road - im sure you now what I mean!) so I dont really think I can grumble. I opted for the Superchips device as it appears to be tried and tested, a few friends have had them in the past with no problems plus they "say" they will undertake any warranty issues not covered by Skoda if there are any problems casued by the re-map. The 7 day no quibble thing was pretty good to. Its a great gadget though, really easy to use - just plug it in the car, copy your settings then plug it in your computer and send it to superchips. 20mins later a text tells me I have an email and you plug it back in again and dwnload the new settings. Back to the car and away you go - 20mins & vroom, vroom hello Officer! You can also immobilise the car and it can read fault codes with the handheld jobbie. VRStu, I dont have the VAG.COM thingy flash counter so I cant help you with that question. What is it? ATB, Jon. |

| Re: New member - introduction... Yes I heard the Bluefin was well liked. My concern with it is that it pyhsically writes to the ECU everytime you add or remove it. There is a flash ccounter, which as the name suggests records all writes to the ECU. It can be viewed with the VAS dealer tool or VAG-COM. Part of the appeal for many is the ability to turn off the remap and thus keep the details away from prying eyes - I'm sure you know what I mean. If the flash counter is changed then clearly it's not as transparrent as it could be.
