Hi Peeps,

Looking at getting a the new Octavia TDi PD140, but just wondering if anyone had the owned the previous 90 or 110 models, and if so how fuel consumption compares with 140.

Owned the 110 TDI Ocky 1. With very light right foot and running at 60 mph on dual carriageways and motorways I could get 70 mpg over an approx 100 mile journey .

Had a loan 140 TDI Ocky 2 and on a "not hanging about" run of approx 100 miles on dual carriageways and motorways I got 65 mpg.

Now own a 105 TDI Ocky 2 and find that it is slightly less economical than my old 110, or maybe it has not yet fully loosened up.

Thanks for the reply Fred, I quite fancy a Ambient PD140 , the local dealer is tryin to talk me into PD105, hes saying theres a delay PD140 engines, and recons the MPG is sooo much better on PD105. What is it with yhese dealers??

Fred seeing as your avid skoda fan can you recomend any sensible extras??...... seems to be too much choice IMHO

I'm getting 47mpg avg out of my PD140 which is exactly same as I got out of my PD110 Bora (which was slightly lighter)

Sorry to disapoint on this front but I have an Elegance which has most of the boys toys that I wanted as standard.

I particularly like the under mirror lights that come on when you unlock or open the doors. Similarly the very neat storage cubbyhole to the right of the steering column which is just right for my Traficmaster Freeway unit. These are not options but only available on the Elegance as standard.

Have got the previous model with 130 PD engine and have found over the last 10k miles i ma averaging 47 mpg , thought at first it would be more like 50 / 52 but most of my trips are no more than 40 miles each way and do like to use the top end power so normally running in the 70s .

Took one of the new 105 for a terst drive and did not like it , found there was no power left even with the pedal right down . OK for the 60 mph run but i found it too lacking with not enough responce .

I went for the Sound System & Speakers as I must have decent tunes with all the driving I do and having previously had a single disc MP3 Player a multi-player is superb.

Oh and the Xenon headlights so I can see where I am going.

Just filled our's up for the first time, the average over the tank was 45mpg. see what the next tankfull will be like with the caravan stuck on the back!!

So far my 2.0Tdi estate has managed 50mpg average on a mainly motorway run and 42 average round town, which I think is great. To achieve anything over 50 you'd have to drive like a fanny, so if that's your goal stick to the 1.9.

I am on my second car with a trip computer. It took me a few months to develop a light right foot. Once I had done so I got far better fuel consumption without being a fanny.

Main points are to maintain steady speeds without far too much use of the brakes and a heavy right boot.

I managed a very brisk run from Bournemouth to just north of London at speeds between 65 and 70 MPH and a fuel consumption on the trip computer of 65 MPG in a 2.0 TDI.

Am I missing something here, 65 to 70 is not brisk in the slightest. If you'd have said 85 to 90 then yes, that is a more accurate description of brisk. As for getting 65mpg Skoda claim 56.5 at a constant 60mph so yes you are driving like a fanny to achieve that, and I suspect that figure is not a true average.

Thanks guys, I wanted real life figures not what manafactures quote. As for fuel computer figures, well say no more!!

I tend not to drive like 'fanny' as fellas put it so I can see myself getting some where around 45-50 mpg which is cool

Placed me order anyhows no extras yet

Might add Zennons or Cruze at a later date, stereo seem damn fine piece of kit as standard. Mind you i do fancy a set of 17"s, need something a bit bigger to fill the arches out!!

Just got back brimed the tank again, out with the caculator over 300 miles towing got 32mpg on mixed roads, happy with that!

Just bought a 2.0 TDi Octy Ambiente with 890 miles on the clock for £12,350...seemed to be a good price to me (car was advertised at £13,999 - far too much).

Pick it up 10th April...I'll let you know what I think.
