New Octy VRS Wins 'What Car' - Best Hot Hatch

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere, but our favourite mark has scooped yet another award of 'What Car' Best Hot Hatch, although its classified as a 'Hatchback' I think it could be put in a different catagory, but hey, who's complaining.

Aye, either Saloon or Estate are not very 'hatch' like at all.

I'm thinking of a vRS Estate as my Golf (hatch) is now far too small, and the estate is the same size as my Audi 90 Avant TDi!

I dunno I would have always considered it a Hatch, the rear window moves with the boot lid, if the rear window doesn't move its a Saloon

Well, whatever personal opinion, the Octy 2 is winning enough categories in enough different publications that it must be doing something right, whatever our minor carps about squeaks. And I suppose, while out driving, we have all noticed just how many new/recent Skodas of all sorts are infesting our highways these days? We can't all be making a mistake!!!

Vaild point, but usually overall size of the car is also a factor in determining if its in the Hot Hatch sector, the Octy is about the same size as a Vectra, but its not in the Hot Hatch category, the Astra is.

None-the-less, if it won the category then thats all that counts !!!

Irritating that a number of publications still class the Octavia as a "small family car". Not sure if that was even true of the Mk.1 (though the rear seat legroom was pretty dire), but the Mk.2 is definitely a full-sized car, as a check of its dimensions will show.
