| Just pricing up some new boots for the car, It has dunlop on at the moment with a V rating. Do I need to put V rated tyres back on? V rated are upto 149mph. Surely I dont need that do I? ![]() |

| Re: New Tyres Might be worth checking with your insurers, but you may be able to get away with a lower speed rating if they're happy. The thing I'd be more concerned with is that the load rating is correct, especially in a diesel..... Chris

| Re: New Tyres Top speed is not the issue. Your car's torque and acceleration charactaristics dictate a tyre with stronger construction, not absolute speed. Why are you even considering lesser tyres??? They are your contact with the road, invest in the best,, read up on some threads and tests. |

| Re: New Tyres Quote:
"Speed ratings are based on scientific tests where the tyre is run at speeds in 6.2 mph steps in 10 minute increments until the required speed has been met." So long as the tyre is capable of the same load rating as that required, it should be able to handle the demands placed on it by the car. Chris
