| New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I'm interested to know what people who have bought the new VRs drove before and how the VRs compares. Everyone on here seems to speak highly of their VRs and I'm looking forward to getting mine. My previous two cars were a Golf V5 (170bhp) and a TT (V6 250bhp) and I am hoping the VRs can come close to matching the TT in terms of performance. I know it will never match it for the sheer feel and sound of the V6 engine and that is something I will certainly miss. It's going to seem quick anyway as I have been driving the wife's 1.4 clio for the last 4 months! |

| Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I drove a golf cabrio called Velma before i got my vrs, needless to say a completely different driving experience. A friend has her now so I have seen her and she's looking stunning. When I saw her last week they told me she will be up for sale soon and I'm so tempted to buy her back, the only thing stopping me is lack of space I also drive Mr P's 306 meridian estate 1.9 turbo diesel. We've had it from new and I used to think driving that was nice until I got my vrs, it just feels completely heavy now. Don't get me wrong, I love my car but I do miss the topless driving in this weather ![]()

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I had a Mk II Clio 172 - a cracking car, if you can live with the rattles! Coming from the 172 it's taking me a while to get used to the Octy. It does seem rather heavy (unsurprisingly!) in comparison - and no where near as nimble when chuckin it into the tighter bends, although I'm impressed by the lack of understeer and general adjustability in fast corners. I must admit straight line speed doesn't seem particularly fast (apart from @ silly speeds!), although I've now done 2200 miles it's starting to feel a bit perkier. Power comes in a lot earlier than the 172, which didn't come on song until about 4500 rpm. It also seems a lot smoother through the rev range with no sudden urge at a particular rpm - this is something I miss. 4th gear to me seems the quickest - it just keeps pulling like a train! Other aspects of the car are a complete breath of fresh air compared to the clio. Decent stereo. Build quality is miles and miles apart. And the ride quality over crappy roads is the best I've ever experienced. All in all I love it, but it's not quite (yet) giving me the thrills I'm after. I think a visit to Mr revo might be in store sometime soon ![]() |

| Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? Had a MkI Octy vRS Estate which I bought from new last June, went to have a washer jet fixed under warranty at the dealers and voila, ended up walking out having signed up to buy a new Octy MkII vRS! ![]()

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I part exchanged 2005 Passat 2.0FSI for vRS estate. Well it is definatly much quicker car and so much more fun to drive although the comfort is sacrifised. Passat is so much more quite and soft. |

| Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I part-ex'd an Audi S6. Huge running costs, 18 mpg and £100 an hour at an Audi dealers caused me to change. I'm glad I owned it as it was an experience but its ability to consume miles was only bettered by its thirst. So far in the vRS I am averaging nearer 30 and much happier as a consequence. I went to Skoda as my local VW dealer had all but ignored me when I turned up for a test drive so I walked out. |

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? Just ordered my vrs. Last car was a leon cupra which i was sad to let go! Not too impressed with the new range of Seat's so im switching after many years with them. Considered the GTI but dealers didnt seem to be interested in my business and they are everywhere now anyhow. The vrs is an all rounder for me, practical for the family with performance and nice understated looks! Cant wait to get her. |

| Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? i had a focus 1.8 zetec 3dr. super car, no problems until i ordered the vRS, then it threw a strop.........dad dented the bonnet it a quad bike, then the power steering pump failed, mot, service......i spent a grand on it in the 3 months my vRS took to come!! the only thing i miss about the focus is the gearshift........the vRS is good, but not as good as the focus..... yes VW dealers dont like customers for some reason.......its odd in aberdeen as the VAG franchises are run by the same company..... |

| Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? Mk 1 vRS. Changed because it's a company car and I have to change every three years. I picked it because there is nothing else with the space, low tax to high power ratio and it is not a diesel. I actual wanted a Golf GTi, but it was too small for the family and I couldn't get a test drive.

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I had a Octy 2.0 TDi, after having the Octy I VRS. The diesel was a great car, but I missed the thrill of the ride. Can't get enough of the Octy II VRS. ![]()

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? I traded in my Octy II 2.0 FSi 2005 for the Mk. II Vrs. Best decision I ever made! Before that I drove a Fabia 1.2 Htp (which I still own as a second car). The Fabia now seems incredibly slow and I cannot bear driving it for very long. |

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? Just got my vRS on Friday already did about 600km (x1.6 miles ) Has driven it on motorway and public roads and can now say that i really like it, a bit nosier then my 2005 Passat and a bit harder but no so much that you really notice it. Really nice engine, car pulls very nice. So i think i had a right choise! |

| Briskodian | Re: New VRs owners - what did you drive before? previous car was a 52 plate mk1 vRS loved it to bits and will be really sad when I hand the keys over on Saturday.. it ticks all the right boxes as a car for me..it looks good but not over the top..I like understated..it feels good quality inside, it can seat me and 2 friends and a weekends fishing tackle and it can be suprisingly economical when you have a sensible hat on...its also costing no more to insure..which is nice |
