| OK - Been on the lookout for some new, yet somewhat different to the norm to replace the old rubber on my 06 Diesel Vrs. Did my duty by browsing at the forum posts first and was destined for the 'KUMHO' until i popped into Fareham Tyre & Autocare in Hampshire, who whilst had various makes available in the correct format - 225/45R17,s - advised me of the new 'TOYO PROXES 4' , which they had only recently taken delivery of. Instead of going for just 2 replacements on the front, i opted for an all-round change and brought all 4 tyres at £75+vat (EACH) and am well impressed with them. They look the biz too! Just been on the 'TOYO' website and found their full spec details if anyone is interested. Said to the guys at the dealership as to how pleased i was with their service and knowledge of their product/s and said i would pass on some niceties about them, here on the forum - SO.......... a BIG thumbs up ** Incidentally, they also have a NEW, top of the range 'SNAP-ON' wheel alignment system (which is the dogs danglies) with a well-trained operator, who showed me every detail of the before and after geometry setup within all 4 corners of the Octy - was well impressive. (got a printout too) Hope some of you local to the Fareham area will give them a try and obviously the tyres are available nationwide too. (Just thought someone on here would benefit from this post - hope so )Cheers for reading - HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all............ John.

2. Are new Toyo's quieter then your previous tyres? 3. What can you tell us about wet / dry grip (if you've experienced some yet) with new Toyo's?

1. Previous tyres were the factory fit - Dunlop sport01a 2. Only done around 50 miles so far and the noise seems NO different, certainly no louder anyway. Off up to Sheffield again next week, so will get more experience from them then. Have noticed much easier standing start from junctions without much grip loss. 3. Haven't been able to observe any serious cornering as yet, neither in wet or dry conditions. The dealer did mention that the Toyo's are a much better tyre on the wet and Toyo are apparently notorious for a far better wet-road tyre. Always had the ESP cutting in on corners previously, so am hoping for some better traction when i get the chance to try them out - will update you once i've had a few more hours on the new rubber. J.

| Re: New Vrs Tyres - 'Well happy with dealer'! Any idea where the Proxes 4 sit in the hierarchy compared to the T1-R's - maybe they're the replacement for them? I'm struggling to find out from their site as they're both listed under ultra high performance! ![]() Chris

| Re: New Vrs Tyres - 'Well happy with dealer'! Now done about 150 miles up to today. Been on a trip today with seriously heavy showers on the motorway - WOW, what an amazing difference in the wet, these tyres make! Rather than avoiding some large pools of settled water (average 60mph) drove through as before with original Dunlop's and there was no twitch at the wheel whatsoever. Almost as if the water wasn't there at all - very impressed. Again, i have noticed no difference in any road noise, albeit haven't really had a chance to hear them at any other higher speed for any length of time to notice. Considering these tyres are a new development and at only £75+vat each, i'm impressed with the dealer who introduced them to me. The TOYO brand is synonymous with 'VERY' good grip in the wet (as said by dealer) and i have to admit that he was every bit 'RIGHT'! Give me some dry/warm tarmac and i'lll update again with my findings in the dry too. Cheers all - John.

| Briskodian | Re: New Vrs Tyres - 'Well happy with dealer'! Randomly father got some new tyres and the tyre place we have used for years suggested Michelin Pilot Primacy as a good all round tyre. I had mentioned the tyre noise issue and my dad mentioned this. The tyre place said they have changed the tread pattern to get around this and from the sound of the car it appears to be true ![]() Toyo's are great grippy tyres, but don't actually last that long I don't think.
