Re: New Wheels for my VRS

Azzouz,
Is that a vRS or a vRS lookalike?
It seems to be sitting VERY high on it's suspension, although this could be an illusion due to the relatively small rims.

Re: New Wheels for my VRS

Get that bad boy lowered and it will look the business. I like the "eyelids"

What size are those wheels? 16s or 17s? Octavias make wheels look smaller than they are.

Re: New Wheels for my VRS

I would recommend 19" BBS CH rims. As yet, no one has fitted these to a Skoda as far as I'm aware....

Wow, those BBS rims on the silver vRS look amazing are they 19" or do my eyes decieve me as I think I made out the tyres which would make them 20"

Re: New Wheels for my VRS

I have got to buy a new Skoda 18" Alloy and continental (225/40 R18 92Y) tyre to compliment the other 3 wheels on my octy vRS TDi after running over a Housebrick (at 65 mph) that was on a busy dual carriage way. the inside rim has a 3"dent and the unseen internal structure of the tyre may well have been weakened at the impact area.
I was quoted £335 from a Skoda dealer (ALBA Autos) in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire for a new wheel c/w tyre and fitting which is cheaper than some of the other Skoda dealer quotes.
Looking at the above thread pics it might be better to invest in a new set of alloys and 1 new tyre.
I would appreciate any advice please.
Those 19" BB wheels look sharp but also very close to the arch. any probs with catching?

Rob

Absolute larceny!!

The Dealer Accessory Skoda wheels 17"/18" range from £133 to £180 inc VAT; I'd be surprised if a replacement OE Zenith wheel was any more. A tyre (Conti 225/40 18 will be around £150).

Were they perhaps quoting you for Wheel, tyre, fitting and (considering how the damage was caused) a 4 wheel alignment check?

Re: New Wheels for my VRS

I have the Skoda 'dealer fit' B14 style wheels on my car. They are 8.0J x 18", part no. CCB 609 001 for £180 inc VAT, each.

Photos do not do them full justice as they have a georgeous smokey black polished finish which IMHO is better than the standard silver or (bling) chrome finish. Also the wide spokes, and large gap between, make them a doddle to clean!

Here are a couple of pics of them on my car (red one) and my dealer's demonstrator (black).

Any good?

I looked at 18" OZ Super Turisimo (£205 + VAT) or Ultraleggera (£245 + VAT) that are beautiful, but at those prices were a bit too much.

Yes. Alloy, Tyre, vat and fitting. I will ask them to check the 4 wheel alignment and whilst they are at it i will get them to check for any other damage the brick may have caused underneath. Bracing myself for the mechanic's sharp intake of breath and his facial expression that has 'Ker-chinggg' written all over it!

When the incident happened i was 50 miles into a 450 mile overnight drive from Loughborough up to Aberdeen. This ate into my 2 hour 'contingency' time i always add on to the normal 8 hour drive time ( c/w a break).
I still made it for my helicoptor check in time at 06:00 to fly offshore for 2 weeks as an oil rig worker.
When i got back onshore i then had to drive home again which i did with no problems which adds up to around 850 miles on the (steel) spare wheel.I kept my speed down to 70 mph as i always do even on a full set of Alloy wheels ( ).

Rob

Re: New Wheels for my VRS

I agree. I bought a set of BBS CH in 18" for mine and the 18" Zeniths are a far nicer wheel on the car.

Sorry for the crap pic but it was dark.

CHs have now found a new home

Now that really requires a second look to check if it is or isn't some spiffy AUDI

Very nice.
