Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

Hi,

I bought an octy vrs 12 months ago then remapped it to 240 bhp (or 242, whatever it is) after 6 months. I'm now wondering what the most cost effective performance upgrade would be. I can just about justify spending up to £500 but ideally half of this. Any advice much appreciated.

Btw great site and great car

Thanks

How do you find the handling ?

Maybe a handling upgrade may be the way to go.

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

Both the suspension and brakes as standard are more than capable of handling the extra power given by a remap, and would only need upgrading if you wish to 'take it to the next level'.

If it's more power you're after, I'd consider an aftermarket air intake as this will be within your budget. After that a good exhaust wouldn't go a miss.

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

I'd say some sort of air intake - I like the EVOMS myself but there are others.

Failing that a Catback exhaust and panel filter combo should be near £500.

Sort that out and you could go stage II remap.

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

Thanks for the advice and welcome.

To answer your questions, I find the handling ok I just fancy making it a bit quicker. I'm not exactly sure what remap I had, I know it was from superchips and a 45 bhp increase, the garage that did the work tested it on a rolling road and gave me print outs. They even agreed to put it back to how it was if my dealer gave me any problems about the warranty and then to put it back after any warranty repair was done and only charge me the labour, fifty or sixty quid I think.

I'd say exhaust and intake upgrades myself, but dont know much on what options are available to give any better suggestions about them...

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

Aside from the intial remap, I found changing the suspension setup to Koni FSD's & Eibach springs to be the most rewarding addition but that will be nearer £700 fitted.

If you can bring yourself to spend all of the £500 then I'd go along with Stu's suggestion of 'catback' exhaust and better panel filter which should give you around an extra 5 bhp with the added benefit of a great engine note.

For £250 then the obvious choice would be a better air intake which give impressive gains but be warned that there have been a few issues with cars experiencing 'fuel cut' at around 5000rpm.

Can I ask why the cat back system is getting recommended (is it simply to hit the budget figure)? Presumably the turbo back version would give better gains or are there other issues with this upgrade over the cat back upgrade?

Cheers,

Lee

Going turbo back would be nearer £900 fitted and the gains are minimal over a catback system. You can also quite easily go turbo back after a cat back install at a later date.

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

hi from new zealand! done 5000kms in my new RS, did the superchips upgrade as well, man did that fire it into life. struggles to hold traction in 2nd all the way to 60mph. was told today that simply changing the rear muffler will make a reasonable gain since its so restrictive. or is this a pile of poo? by the way , did a trip out of town 430 miles on a tank, at 39+ MPG. How does that rate against you guys?

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

You could consider FSD's without lowering springs as Bahnstormer has fitted, they really do make a difference to the low speed ride in the vRS and firm up nicely when your having fun.

the EVOM's intake gives some nice gains, but one thing that I certainly would consider is a Neuspeed short shifter, it really makes the shift slick and fast with a much shorter throw and something like this should be standard on the vRS.

Thinking off at a tangent, you could always junk the conti's and put 4 decent tyres on it, this could actually put more of a grin on your face than you may first imagine.

Re: Next upgrade after octy vrs remap?

can anyone help me with a rear muffler suggestion, only one i have found in NZL is the Remus one, which comes with the last section of piping as well. No one stocks them here sadly, but if someone could point me in the right direction in the UK or Europe i will fly one in. thanks
