| Noise from Rear Seats I have a noise that seems to be coming from around the area where the seat release catch is. It's mainly like a vibration but then sometimes there also seems like a rattle noise aswell. Its especially noticable on concrete or uneven roads. Dropping the seats and putting them back up seems to minimize it for a while. I really feel that the noise is coming from inside the seat release mechanism. Btw Anyone know if the set up in the RS with the side bolsters beside the seat is the same as the other Mk2 models ? The bolster seems to be pretty flimsey and to be honest I wouldn't rule this out as a possible reason for the noises.

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I have a rattle from the nearside rear seat bolster area where the cables are run. I've not bothered figuring out whether it's the bolster or something in the cable run underneath yet. Also, I find the two seat belt clips which sit next to other vibrate against each other. |

If you do remove them or have any updates let me know. Btw I found some masking tape left free behind the bolster where the cables run into the boot. My noise kinda sounds like a window creak intermittantly.

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I have a similar sort of noise coming from the rear near side, again, it seemed to start after I had folded the rear seat down. It sounds like a faint rattle/buzz, more noticable when on rougher road surfaces. Just waiting to see if it develops any further before I go back again as i have a few other minor things I want checked! Will keep you posted if it is diagnosed! |

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats Gaff, on mine it is the actual catches you push to release the seat. I had a friend sit in the back and search for it as I drove and it took 30 seconds. I think the springs are not strong enough to push the catch to the end of its stop and retain it so it moves quite easily. As a temporary fix I have used good old black electrical tape between the back of the recess and the catch and it is now silent. As for a permanent fix I don't know. I shall think harder. |

I have noticed exactley the same problem myself. Its not much of vibration/buzz but once you have heard it once you find yourself listening for it all the time. I haven't had time to investigate it myself as I've been working all weekend

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I remember being in the back seat of that car Gaff... That seat catch was the cause of the issue. I held the catch with one hand and the little bit that sticks out at the front (I wish I had pictures now..) and it stopped. Ken, if you're reading this, Its not in his mind (well not this time ). Get him off my back! Natter natter natter... thats all I get ![]()

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats We used to have the same problem with the A4 Octy and we usually cured it by packing the catch mechanism in the seat back with grease. I know it shouldn't do it but it's a feature not a fault ![]() |

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I have the very same problem with those rear seat catches. The noise is definetly coming from where you unclip the rear seats. I have had three different people in the rear of the car to identify where that rattling/ buzzing noise is coming from. All three have said it is definetly coming from the seat release clips. The only way I have managed to silence it is my wedging a piece of strong plastic into the clip to stop it moving. This is hardly the proper fix for this problem, and I feel after spending 34K on an Rs I should be getting better build Quality than this. I will book my car into Monaghans for Friday to see if they can rectify this. I will keep you posted guys

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats Might be worth a check but I think theres a secondary noise coming from my rear left. If ya drop your window with the door closed then about 3/4 way up the edge of the bolster (where theres a ridge in the door card between two levels) I have found that the bolster is rubbing off the door card and causing a noise...especially over uneven surfaces eg speed ramps. Press the seat bolster in this area and if the bolster is close enough to the door you'll here it. I put a small bit of insulating tape on the door card in this area to try and get rid of it.

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I have just spent two weeks trying to find the rattle in the rear of my car and after a few disappointments I've sorted it. It sounded like something loose rattling on the rear nearside. I suspected the rear folding seat catch, then the rear seat bolsters and finally found that it was a small plastic guard that fits just inside the slot that the rear seatbelt comes out of. I don't know what it's for - maybe to stop fingers being trapped? Anyway - it is held in place by a single small bolt which fastens from below, and this bolt can be reached by first removing the bolster (I did this by pushing down hard on the top of it with the door open and then pulling it forward - it came away easily - don't force it though as it's only foam and may be damaged). You then reach in under the plastic panel at the top and you should be able to feel the bolt unless you have fingers like pork sausages and your hand is too big! On mine the bolt appeared never to have been tightened, and I could just reach it with a socket spanner (not easy - don't drop the socket or you'll be stripping down the rear of the car to get it back). It fastened up easily and no rattle. I checked the offside one and that was fine so I guess just someone fell asleep on the production line! I also get a squeak from the front passenger seatbelt socket when it's in use. If all else fails - I found turning up my stereo eliminates most rattles and squeeks! Geoff... | Re: Noise from Rear Seats Called into dealer today to see if they had a reply from the distributors about my seat rattle, seeing as its been 6 weeks since he went to contact them about looking at it. Yea he said, "turn the radio up", I didn't find it amusing the first time and don't this time either . Whats the saying about If You Don't Having Anything Usefull to say...... !!!! Top Class Customer Service there alright If they don't feed back the info to Skoda sure of course there won't be a fix......and from what I hear Skoda haven't had any feedback about this particular issue. So would I be right in saying that none of the dealers who people have gone back to with this issue have contacted Skoda Auto ?

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I've had some peace lately with this....folded up cardboard like Mcgyver and pushed it into place. Thankfully theres light at the end of the tunnel, I've been told my seats are being swapped out with a New RS, as changing the clip is time consuming and messy in terms of damaging the trim. Hopefully whatever the issue is has been resolved.

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats Sounds good mate. Mine has been good on the passenger side but the drivers side started. A very firm push back into place seems to have done the trick with that one so for the time being I guess my problem is resolved. Best of luck... |

does that mean that this is a recognised problem by Skoda now - as both of mine are doing it - and I would like to go to the local stealer armed and prepared?? Are the seats being swapped under warranty? Cheers | |

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats Unfortunely not I think. From the info I got from the factory they said they haven't had any complaints from customers about the issue. So I reakon if you want it fixed get back to the dealers as the more that do it the more chance it'll be resolved.

| Re: Noise from Rear Seats I had mine swapped out a few weeks back but it hasn't been resolved as it was noticable after a few days, not as bad as the old ones but its still there. Not surprising really due to others noticing it. Anyone else had any closure on it?
