Angry Not Foooookin Happy

I cant believe Some bleeeedin Twonk has dented my rear passenger door

My car had been in a car park and i came back and noticed a white mark on the door. It didnt look much but it stood out as the car had only just been cleaned/polished.

Anyway the mark came off with a bit of polish. However there is now a slight dent of about an inch in length vertically on the door. It looks like someone has opened a car door into mine. when i came back though there was a black car next to mine and none there when i first arrived. So the culprit has done it and buggered off

Its not big and you cant see it unless someone points it out (well SWMBO couldnt). But thats not the point. I know its there and everytime i walk up to the car you can see it in the sunlight (when it does shine every now and then). When it stops raining ill take a Pic.

Does anyone know anywhere in either Lancashire or Plymouth area that will do a good job of repairing the dent. Speaking to my dad he reckons someone could suck it out with a special tool or a panel beater could knock it out.

Im really annoyed and i searched the car park looking at all white car doors for a hint of blue and the dumb parking attendant was about as much use as tits on a fish

Cheers in advance

an annoyed Carl

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

Depending on the acuteness of the dent there was a thread on here about rmoving dents using a can of airspray?

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

Dent Magician [one version] place a kind of sucker over the dent and remove the air so it is stuck to panel, then pull out the dent. They also do a kind of tapping out from the inside -depends what kind of panel skin you have. Dent Wizard did my Primera £49 some years back, which saved about £100.

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

Makes you sick. I have a small passenger door dent caused by some **** in the supermarket car park. I try and park away from the majority of cars but you can still attact them. Worst culprits in my opinion are kids, the elderly and the ladies for swinging their door open. I try and park near to something expensive, hopefully they are careful with the doors. With mine I think it was a badly parked 4X4. I didn't spot it till I got home. It's only small but I know it is there !

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

Not nice. I now live in fear of this having my new vRS.

My Clio was covered in these door marks (Tesco dents). I'm with cng I try to park far away from the busy bit near the doors and if I have to park next to something I make sure it's more expensive than mine.

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

you won't be able to sucker it out, the only dents that can be sucked out are where the the panel has been flexed inwards rather than dented, if there is a crease at all then it will have to knocked out as much as will allow then filled and painted

my dad had some scratchs done by a man in a van and the results were very good indeed

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

My Primera job wasn't done with a sucker. They went in through a small hole with a kind of minature automatic hammer that tapped the crease out - it was only small though. They then put a rubber plug over the inside hole and it disappeared back behind the door trim somehow.

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

I hate these morons who don't care enough about other peoples property.

I generally avoid parking near people - park in an 'end spot' or against a wall/hedge etc. so only 1 side can be parked on - also park as close to the wall/hedge etc to create a bigger gap between you and afore mentioned ****.

Part of the problem though, is that parking spaces have got smaller - so there's less door opening space.

Wrong!

Surely it is cars that have got bigger! e.g. the Fabia is the same size as a Golf Mk II. BMW 3 series is now bigger than a 5 Series of 15 years ago! And as for the Audi Q7 & Range Rover WELL!!!!!

Absolutely, you're dead right. The new Fabia is a case in point: it is now almost the size of a Hummer. I wonder how long we'll have to wait before Skoda bring out a new small car.......

But isn't it nice on the odd occasion when you find a supermarket or somewhere that has made an effort to have wider than normal spaces. Gosh, you can actually get out of the door!!

Bah, then you'll just get some **** who can't be bothered to to put their trolly away leaving it to roll downhill or get pushed by the wind. I got some bad scratches a couple of cars ago that way. That or people pushing past scratching the car with zips or handbag buckles. Surely they could make paint a bit tougher these days.

Re: Not Foooookin Happy

You're never going to believe this. Just got back from Hove Tesco where an old idiot has left a long scratch/crease across both my passenger side doors, below the rubbing strip, and onto the side of the rear bumper!!

Immaculate Octy no longer. Fortunately it was witnessed - he drove through the space next to mine, doing the damage with the corner of his nearside front bumper, and then hopped off to a space on the next row, but witness reported him, and his registration, to Tesco security, who paged me and brought us together. He finally had to admit liability.

But, even weirder, his son is a local repairer/sprayer who does a lot of work that has to pass muster for insurance assessors, and has offered to do a free first rate job [I hope!!] if I don't go through insurance.

I think I'll go back to bed and start the day again!

You just want to cry; don't you. At least you have the culprit!!!!

It makes life simple if they will get the car repaired for you but I would check-out the details of the son's bodyshop to make sure theat they are accredited repairers before going ahead.

[quote=bahnstormer vrs;961102]You just want to cry; don't you. At least you have the culprit!!!!

It used to upset me a lot, but now I tell myself it is just a bit of repairable tin really. Not flesh and blood, or loss of a loved one. I will certainly check out the standing of the repairer/son, who is coming to my house on Friday evening. He sounds okay on the phone actually, and I wonder if he spends his life putting right dad's mishaps, though I noticed the old boy's R reg Accord had all sorts of old dents and scrapes - maybe that explains a lot!!

I will tell him I am VERY fussy, and ask WHY does his dad not want to go through insurance? Does he have any, or a licence? Oddly, the culprit lives just two street away from me.

In any case, I've already told him that if I am not happy with the repair I will go back to square one and inform all and sundry through the usual channels.

Okay, if you insist!

But this was nothing to do with door opening, he just misjudged the whole thing and I reckon he does something like it every day of the week. I doubt if his driving or medical/eyesight records and history could stand much examination.
