o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

Hi!

I have a (fairly) new O2 4x4 1.9 TDI.

It should have a 60l gas tank, however whenever I fill it up I'm never able
to get more than 52l in it (and the computer says that I have enough diesel for 20 km - so it should be empty). Where could the problem be (I talked to the dealer, and he suggested a different kind of filling up procedure - I should not put the nozzle in as far as possible, but just to the first notch - but there was no difference).

Any suggestions - the difference is almost 8l, which is too much to be acceptable...

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

The range calculation has quite a big margin for error built into it, I had a Mk1 Octavia TDI and I was able to do at least 30 miles AFTER the computer said my range was down to zero. If you add that to your 20 miles that obviously gives you 50 overall. Take a ballpark figure of 40-50mpg that means there is AT LEAST 5-6 litres left when you fill up.

I don't think you have a problem to be honest. I have never ever been able to fill any of my 3 Skoda's fuel tanks to the figure quoted in the book.

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

I'm sure that when you are empty (maxidot displays '0' miles left in tank) that you still have at least 10-15 miles left in the tank similar to a reserve part of the tank, but even if I am correct it should still be nowehere an 8l difference.

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

IIRC the 4x4's have bigger tanks, I got proved wrong on this once before on here

As it's an '02 I suspect it's a MkI, either that or a very early pre production MkII mule

And to clarify- the 'reserve' part of the tank is when the fuel light comes on.

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

- the computer shows 20 km left, and I do around 6.1 l/100km (I have quite a few hills in the daily commute), and if there are 8 liters left in the tank, than I should be able to do 130 km with the fuel left (more than a 100 km difference is too much).

- the o2 is not for the year (its failry new - 2007) o2 is for octavia 2 (so Mk2)

- i did not expect to fill it up with 60l, but I should be able to use more than 86% of the tank and I expect the computer to be fairly accurate (with a up 30 km safety, but not 100).

Tnx, Leto

Correct according to the brochure/handbook.

I routinely take my range down to 25/30 miles (I once went to 5 miles but haven't got the nerve to do so again) and then refuel with 50 - 52 litres.

Straight forward and no problem.

WRONG, it says in my homologation card that it has a 60L tank.

Do you mean the 4x4 has a 55L or 60L tank?

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

The Scout has a 60l tank & as it is similar to the standard 4x4 I would have thought the same.

Although it says different here........?

attached is the techs for Scout

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

That is the problem I face.....

The spec say my 4x4 has a 60L tank, but it behaves like it has a 55l tank....

could it be that the computer was programmed wrong? (and it thinks it has a 55l tank?)

Tnx, Leto

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

I doubt it. Remember, 60l is the whole capacity, including any sump it may have etc... If you can get 52l in it with still some range, then that sounds perfectly normal.

Hi

Our 07 Octy 4x4 Amb has a 60lt tank, and warning light should come on when only 8 lts left in tank, followed by a beeping sound so they say.

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

Not sure if it applies to the Octy, but the Fabia has a device to prevent overfilling (a button in the filler neck) which if pressed, will release more volume. Do a search in the Fabia section.

How much can you put in the tank when this happens...

When my warning light comes on I can put only about 48L in the tank...

Seen such treads, but none for Mk2 Octavia, and I cant find any button in the filler neck (nothing that gives, or can be pressed)

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

If it's a diesel: do a search for "summer ventectomy" - you'll effectively have a noticeably bigger tank....
(I'm not making this up!)

Re: o2 4x4 diesel tank volume

Hi, I know its off-topic but would you recommend this model? I am looking at an ad right now for an 05-plate 4x4 1.9 with 42k on for £11,000. Was set on a 2.0TDI but the budget won't stretch right now but I need a new car soon. Need to tow my caravan (1372kg max) so got to be a 4x4 for weight reasons unless anyone knows different.
