Octavia 1.8 TSI in video test

Hi everybody.

Here's the link to the video test Škoda Octavia 1,8 TSI: turbo hrátky (video) | AUTO.CZ

Unfortunately it's in Czech (also available in Polish and Slovakian) but there are some interesting bits like exhaust note or acceleration.

Enjoy!

Re: Octavia 1.8 TSI in video test

Very nice

If I understood correctly, this would be positioned between 1.8tfsi and petrol rs. Or this is replacement for tfsi model?

Re: Octavia 1.8 TSI in video test

The 1.8TFSI is marketed as TSI in some countries, including my native Greece.

It's not a new engine.

Here the cars are badged MPI (old 1.6 8-valve), FSI (newer 1.6 and the 2.0), TSI (the new 1.8 turbo), TDI (the 1.9 and 2.0 diesels) and of course the RS. They also sell a 1.4, don't know how they badge that, if anyone ordered one

Re: Octavia 1.8 TSI in video test

The 1.8TSI and 1.8TFSI are the same engine just branded differently, it's an all new unit from Audi. It replaces the 2.0 FSI. You will still have the 2.0 TFSI engine in the vRS (or RS outside of the UK). I think the logic behind it is to have a choice of FSI,TSI and TDI.

You have to be careful as there is also the 1.4TSI that is the twin charge engine found in the Golf GT amongst otheres but the 1.8 TSI is a normal turbocharged unit.

Red face Re: Octavia 1.8 TSI in video test

Hi.
For those who do not speak any of these three languages - the conclusion of the test was that 1,8 FSI (or TSI, TSFI or whatever you call it) is currently the best petrol engine in the Octavia range!!!!!! Very quiet and refined up to 3500 rpm and then changing into a pleasantly "sporty" unit which gives a lot of joy.

If only they saved the sport trim it would be the best combination price to value.

Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI Elegance Review | Auto Express

So, basically, it's a new(ish) engine, based on TSI technology but without supercharger. It replaces 1.8tfsi model and its power/torque is compared to 2.0fsi model (which would also be soon out of production (if not already)).

Re: Octavia 1.8 TSI in video test

Bought one of these afew weeks ago. Hatch elegance spec. Well impressed so far - very refined & smooth + quite serious performance from what I assumed (group 11 insurance) would be just a reasonably responsive 5 door hatch. 3rd gear grunt for overtaking is pretty phenominal. I havn't tested the VRS in anger but this 1.8 seems to provide as much go as I would reasonably ever want!
