| Briskodian | octavia advice Hi there. I registered with the forum as I intend to but an octavia estate in the near future. I have all but decided on a 1.9 tdi 105brake ambiente spec, maybe 06 plate on. I'm just looking for a bit of advice on any glaring problems with these cars in general or any questions I should be asking the dealer reference recalls. I will probably be buying skoda approved. My mate is a taxi driver and runs several 1.9tdi hatches and doesn't seem to have much bother with them. I may also be interested in the 140 brake engine but have read there has been a few problems with them. Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks.Alan. |

| Re: octavia advice I have a 1.9tdi as a Company pool car! I got to say, given that it gets a regular thrashing its been brilliant! On long runs with some fairly high rev thrashing, and cruising on the motorway plus I get 55mpg on average! Not had a single problem with my own 2.0tdi apart from the decent fuel consumption of the 1.9tdi...but then that is replaced with the smile on your face as you press the accelerator.

| Briskodian | Re: octavia advice I can not complain about my 2.0 TDI like others I would like it to be more frugal as I pay for the pongy stuff to go down the hole in the side. I would still like to try a Honda Accord auto diesel station wagon, but the VAG DSG box is so good. Still in three years time things could be different. |

| Re: octavia advice My Octavia Estate (Elegance) 1.9 TDI DLG on a 57 plate is the best vehicle I have ever owned. The car drives itself. Im only there to get the fine if the car is being naughty. Best thing since sliced bread I filled up this morning, and got 40.5 MPG for 400 miles around town driving. That was using the brim to brim method and a calculator. Not bad for an auto. Go for it.
