Surely that depends on how somebodies gear kn0b is doing and how the seat cleaning went

It really seems to me a bit of a joke regarding the availablity of this information. Why are they not available to the dealers across the board.

Done 16k and all are 3mm, still will get a better discount for having to have all 4 ! Not sure what to go for though!

Stu, are the settings you mention applicable to the vRS or just the "Sports Kit" suspension, sorry just want to be clear before I go back and ask for them to sort it out! Is there a TSB I can quote to them?

I assume you have the frequently factory fitted Continental Sport Contact 2. From test drives I found these noisy and hard. Other Briskodians have complained of the noise they produce.

If you want to keep cost down then I suggest Toyo T1-S, well regarded generally. If you want good 'OE' type tyres then you could try the newish Dunlop Sport Maxx (Audi and VW are using these as OE on the TT and Golf GTi at the moment) or my personal favourite, which are Michelin Pilot Exalto 2.

I've just ordered a vRS TDI with dealer fit B14 18" wheels and arranged for the Michelins to be fitted. I have them on my Fabia at present, they grip WELL particularly in the wet, they're supple and quiet. Also Evo magazine have just put a set on their 'fast fleet' Astra VXR having had good experience on a Clio RenaultSport 185.

Re: Octavia II Common Faults or Problems and the Fixes

Thanks for the info, the Toyos were on my short list, as were the Michelins, just hadn't found a good price locally. The other ones I was thinking of were Bridgestone Re050s as Golf GTI seems to be coming with them on at the moment.

Both of the octy II's we have had have a fault where reversing sensors don't work.

Put it into reverse and there is a long beep but nothing on the display, when you take it out of reverse the thing on the stream radio shows the picture of the car momentarily.

Re: Octavia II Common Faults or Problems and the Fixes

One car is waiting on the fix, and the other needs to go into the dealer.

I'll ask or try and get part numbers and pm you with them when they are fixed.
It is odd though as I know they are waiting on two parts for the fix, and both are identical failure modes.

Mines just developed this fault and is at the dealers to check out this fault with reversing sensors.

Also looking at creaking rear suspension, replacing the delaminated front windscreen and changing the creaking air vents, and tracing vibrating noise behind the dash!

What else could go wrong?

Re: Octavia II Common Faults or Problems and the Fixes

About this ticking from the aircon. Is it normal every minute or so to hear 1 tick. Not particulary loud. I know I am nit picking.

Also, a small part of rear window (about 6" sq) had condensation in it this evening. And I drove home with the aircon on and rear windscreen heater on the whole way (about a 40min drive). It was pretty cold out (4 degrees) and I did have the boot open and closed a few times.

Re: Octavia II Common Faults or Problems and the Fixes

I noticed the creaking suspension and delaminaing front windscreen too, but think i will give the garage a list let them look at the car then get them to book me in with a time to fix it all.

Ahh well, it's a nice car I think.

I see that. But it doesn't describe it very well.
Is it a loud continuous clicking. Mine is very subtle and you hear 1 click, very low, every 30 seconds or so. Even if auto is turned off. Just wondering.

That's pretty much it I think. Certainly what mine sounds like.

Re: Octavia II Common Faults or Problems and the Fixes

Damn. You think they would have fixed it in the 07 models.

So should I tell my dealer the car which is 2 weeks old has a clicking noise from the aircon and I have been advised that it can be fixed with the diagnostics in the garage.

Anyway, dropping car in on Friday so they can check the firmware.
This morning I turned off the aircon and turned it back on when I got to work, and I heard the flaps creaking for a few seconds.
Then a very very low ticking noise coming from dash every 20 seconds. Seems perfectly reasonable to me, but only getting it checked because of what I read on this site.

Sounds like the flap positions need re-setting, at the moment one or more are probably still driving when they have reached the end stop.

Re: Octavia II Common Faults or Problems and the Fixes

Am I the only one with water ingress into the n/s/f footwell from the door? Had seals replaced but still does it when it rains hard.

Vibration from driveshafts is another common problem on 4x4's but its also common across all VAG 4x4's.

Same Stream issues as others along with a loud and I mean LOUD!! popping noise from it, cured by fitting a MFD2.

Had the car go flat overnight twice, traced to a faulty engine cooling ECU (posh talk for a fan switch!!).

Experience strong vibration in 3rd gear (2 1/2 actually on a 4x4) between 1200-1600 rpm with medium engine load, Skoda and dealer completely at a lost to its cause, disappeared one night over xmas on its own never to return??

Rear tyre wear faster than fronts, went through a complete set of 4 in 17,000 miles on OEM's Dunlops, fitted Hankooks, better grip, much quieter and at 11,000 miles still looking very healthy all round.

Still wouldn't swop the car for anything else (other than a new scout!) does what it was bought for perfectly.

I don't think I've heard it being mentioned on here but one of the lads had a rear wiper motor replaced due to it not working. He tells me the garage have replaced a few of them.

Ya Gaff that was me. Apparently they have replaced Quite a few of the rear wiper motors. MY rear parking sensors are playing up now. Just as I go to move in reverse the pici on the stream radio lights up like a christmas tree even though everything is clear behind.

The leather is also peeling from the gear **** and just to wrap it up my front suspension is creakin... Almost forgot, I had a rear window motor give up on me last week...
I am afraid this will be my lost Skoda, not because of the after sales service but because the lack of interest that Skoda manufacturing have in keeping there dealers up to date on any modded parts or fixes for these numerous problems. Only for this web site and the excellent tech help that you guys are providin we or the dealers would not have a clue how to fix the problems that some of us are experiencing....

Don't suppose anyone knows of the part number for the modified door seals or if there is a TSB on this do they?

EDIT:

Not to worry they found the modified part

Water ingress is a common problem across the VAG range..My daughters Seat Leon has been back 4 times and still no cure..When its in the front its often from the pollen filter being fitted incorrectly...worth having it checked to ensure the seal is properly located...

Otherwise it could be the door itself ..the drain holes get blocked and then it fills with water until it runs in over the sill..certainly the case with Golfs and Leons so I expect Skoda has the same design (flaw )

I would say that was an internal dealer issue - SUK issue the TSB's they have no control over what the dealers do with them.

Do SUK get them from the factory or do they find these issues and do a TSB themselves ? I get the impression here that the dealers genuinely are not getting them, in fact I could be wrong but I figure that Skoda.ie or MDL as they are currently known also don't have them all either to the same extent as the UK. So its not really the dealers fault, I must say its very frustrating at times.
