Exclamation Octavia II Speaker change

Hi,
I want to change the speakers in my Octavia II but can't quite figure out how I go about it. How do I get at the speakers? Do I need to remove the door card? If so, how do I do this? Also, are there extra speakers in the Elegance model? If so, where are they situated?

Your help would be much appreciated by me - I'm new!

Thanks

Hello there. A chap called Humsk did a short guide on removing door cards. See here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/ice-s...r-sizes/51291/

I have also had mine changed but that was done by a Car Hifi shop as I wasn't feeling brave enough at the time.

Sorry I can't answer your Elegance question as I have a vRS but I am sure someone will come along and help you soon.

Oh and welcome by the way.

I would *always* change the HU first. Better to have a decent HU and passable speakers than the other way around. The standard Octy HU, assuming it's a Stream is awful. I've just tried my new Blaupunkt using the existing speakers and the difference is nothing short of amazing.

Remember GIGO (Garbage in - garbage out) - it applies to sound equipment at least as much as anything else.

Im fussy, and I find the oem speakers to be pretty damn good, with a new HU. Got a Pioneer Avic X1 in mine, and an alpine sub in the boot, and I'd never contemplate changing the speakers tbh.

Most aftermarked speakers are all bling and no substance anyway. Usually inferior to the originals.

I don't agree with that last reply - aftermarket speakers are always a breth of fresh air when installed (or always have been for me). I have an Alpine HU I'm waiting to install but I need a surround for the fascia which has been ordered. I guess noone knows where the extra Elegance speakers are?

I agree, I used to be into ICE in a big way in my yoof but I wouldn't bother changing the OEM setup as it's pretty darn good

Nowt wrong with the standard Octy II speakers. They do a very good job of rattling the door mirrors. But I do find the tweeters can be a little overpowering at times.

Like what Shifty said, if you want more kick, get a sub in the boot.

As for the Octy I speakers, they were 80's Binatone specials

I can report that the standard OctyII speakers sound very good indeed on the end of my Blaupunkt - the go very loud, no vibration and have plenty of range and surprisingly good bass. The Stream always sounded rubbish no matter how it was set up.
