Octavia Lights

Hi everyone,i'm new to the skoda scene & seriously thinking about buying a new Octavia vrs pd 170 in race blue & wondering if its worth ordering xenons as an option or are the standard lights sufficient ? & what other extras are a must?
Thanks in advance............

Re: Octavia Lights

Xenons are an absolute MUST for me. I do all my winter commuting in the dark and good headlights are essential for me.

I had a 2000 Omega with Xenons and didn't really notice the extra lighting over a standard lamp with uprated bulb. I have now got a vRS TDI with xenons and they are absolutely fantastic. Really good and bright and with a well designed and very good spread and beam pattern.

Do remember that the Xenon option also includes headlamp washers.

The other option IMHO to get are the B14 style 18" alloys (dealer fit) - they;'re stunning.

Re: Octavia Lights

Asa cheaper alternative (though not as good as Xenon I'm sure) you could just upgrade the standard headlamps with Philips Xtreme power bulbs - considerably brighter than standard.

Skoda have an offer of a free ugrade to the 18" wheels / Dual zone aircon / jumbobox w/e that is lol & rear electric windows till end of june on the new vrs & cheapest i've found for the basic car is £ 16,295 all in.
Do you think this is the best price i'll get or anyone bought 1 any cheaper?

Re: Octavia Lights

after not having xenons before i wouldnt buy a car without them now. i hardly ever have to use the headlights on country lanes as they are now well lit with them.

Re: Octavia Lights

Having a car with xenons will help when it comes to resale. It will be like aircon, in a few years it will be expected to be fitted to alot of mid/large cars.

Once you have them you wont go back.

And another in agreement, but I still think I'll put the osram silverstars in when the bulbs need replacing and see if they make any improvement.

Re: Octavia Lights

I've got Xenon on mine and I like them. You have to make sure the dealer sets them up during PDi though.

Accepted; standard lamps with/without uprated bulbs are good but Xenos are a quantum leap better.
