Re: Octavia MFSW

Is this the optional one?

If so i know cruise and volume control for the radio are on there on the left, but can't currently think what if anything is on the right.

Re: Octavia MFSW

Hi,

Yes, it is optional. For an Elegance Tdi, the multifunction steering wheel is code PLE in Ireland.

Thanks

A

Mine's the L&K but that's an Elegance with extras.
Teh left of hte wheel has seek up and seek down for hte radio (or CD if in hte multichanger)
Also button to switch off the lights within the wheel
THere is a fourth on teh left but for hte life of me I cannot remmber using it!

On right are volume up and down, also pre=programmed station up and down (or track if in CD)

Re: Octavia MFSW

Hi Fellwalker,

Thanks for that.

How do you find the DSG box?
I was tempted (placed order today) to get it with Elegance Tdi. However, as I have not driven it, I decided it was not worth a €2000 gamble...........

DSG is just marvellous.
In normal traffic, it is far nicer than the automatics I have had over the last 15 years. Those were 2 or 3 each of Ford, Vauxhall, and Honda.
Driven sensibly (i.e. not foot to the floor) it is very smooth. Driven heavy footed it is smooth. In over a year and 27000 miles, I have only used the tiptronic option for manual changing a handful of times - on very windy roads where I wanted engine braking as well.
The only issue is the initial start if you are wanting to set off quickly. It feels as if nothing is happening, then all of a sudden you are off and away.
Occasionally if you have been slowing fast, and tehn want to set off again, it hesitates as it has chosen the next gear donw, and has to re-think. However, I do not think that is any worse than normal auto boxes, and I am sure it is still ahead of most drivers. Not us Skoda afficionados, of course.

Also the cruise control works well and does keep a pretty constant speed, varying only a couple of mph, including importantly 30 mph.

And i have remembered the other button on the left - a mute button. And all this time I have been stretching my arm and using hte volume control on the radio! Doh.

Re: Octavia MFSW

there is a cruise button on the left, so that will be the one you can't remember.

Two cars with it and two people to get you a single answer

Re: Octavia MFSW

Thanks for the info.

Maybe next time I will try the DSG. I have never been a fan of autos, but DSG seems to rule based on reviews.
With speed limits, traps and crap traffic, maybe it is time I gave it real thought.

Thanks again,

A...

The cruise control is on teh stalk to the left. A rocker switch on the end of hte stalk gives set or decelerate at teh bottom, resume or increase at teh top. A 3-position switch on top of hte stalk gives left =on, flick to middle to turn off temporarily, and click to the right to switch off and re-set.

Generally very happy with cruise control, but I would welcome an indicator light to confirm that it is on.

BTW, not so happy with the speedo, reads 5% slow or tehereabouts according to my satnavs.

Very unusual for a car speedo to be slow, they usually overread by up to 10%.

re the cruise control indicator light, that is now standard, neat little icon on speedo dial lights up when CC is active.

There isn't abutton on the MFSW for CC though is there? I have not found one on mine.

Re: Octavia MFSW

The other button on the MFSW is Mute for the radio/CD. At least it is on mine.
